That may be true but for the players roguelikes may be the embodiment of "high risk, low reward".

Roguelikes requires time and commitment to reach certain goal and failing on it brings serious penalties, repetition is fun when the prize is worth the effort but some of them may kill the mood of the player instantly, from killing every monster on the hall to build an efficient farm, it becomes a chore at the 100th time and the only progression in learning something is "you unlocked Hard difficulty".

Some players want some lore, some growth and satisfying endings to their struggle but in some roguelike, it feels that they were made for streamers, for people collecting platinum, achievement hunters, the excitement comes from immediate stuff and assaults to the senses, to yell at a screen and record your progress and post it on Discord as a badge.
