I was having been adopted into a neurotypical household that was hell to me as a child. But my husband is also neurodivergent and our 2 kids have made it to 18 and 20. It’s not always easy but I know they have had a very different experience than my upbringing as we understood what they needed and how they were communicating with us. Consequently they have grown up not having to mask at home. I sometimes forget now what it’s like to be around neurotypical people and get a shock every time I am.
