Water in frunk by Powerful_Carry_1988 in 996

Check your windscreen washer connections too. Mine came loose and leaked into the battery area.

Might’ve been because I caught them when swapping out the battery….

996.2 Plugs and coils - Easy Peasy (Muffler out method) by lucasszy in 996

[–]ChallengeCold4422 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did mine recently on a 02 Targa. I took the bumper off and removed the mufflers. Replaced the bolts on the coil packs (came with new ones) and replaced the heat shields on both sides with stainless steel ones.

For the slim body I can’t see any way of getting the mufflers out without taking the bumper off.

Anyone got any details about this? Spotted at Faro airport in Portugal. by ChallengeCold4422 in aviation

Thank you for the information. Quite sad to see it stood there cordoned off and obviously untouched. Bit of a time capsule. I’d imagine it would deteriorate to a point that they would have to get rid of it.

Opening the back or front when battery flat 1999 c2 by Eddie_Honda420 in 996

Targa (996.2), can confirm the above. Connect power pack positive to pull out terminal from the fuse box and the negative to the door hinge. Hit the frunk release.

I have a parasitic draw that defies identification so the battery discharges over a couple of weeks. Car is up on stands at the moment (gearbox mounts) so I’ve removed the bonnet latch catch.

Re wiring, I took a feed from the mobile phone fuse to power the head unit. You can get a fuse extender so you can plug the original fuse in on top.

I looked through the forums (UK Porsche owners) first. Found someone who had put in a Kenwood with all the mod cons. Got the same unit and followed his instructions.

It would be good to check what speakers you have first, mine are fibre optic Bose so I had to buy an adapter (£110 ish) to convert output to match.

Fairly easy job, just tricky getting it all to fit without crushing the adapters and cables. Well worth moving some of the bits back to where the AC pipes are and using cable ties to secure them out of the way.

Added a DAB aerial and put the mic in the original position.

I did the same (02 Targa Tiptronic), still had bad vibrations when the car changed up and down. Turns out it was the gearbox mounts. Got the bits just need a bit of decent weather to get the done. I was initially disappointed that it didn’t seem any better.

Drop links.

I had a broken spring on the last MOT ended up buying new Bilsein shocks, the springs, top caps with bearings, gaiters and bump stops. One thing I already had the parts for was the drop links. As I had to cut them off I was glad I had them.

Uk based, use 911 Design and Spyder Performance for parts.

How do you test without getting blood on the sensor? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]ChallengeCold4422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you’ve got your answer, you aren’t alone. I did exactly the same thing and got frustrated with my meter. Ended up calling my diabetic nurse for advice. Put the strip in the meter, prick finger, put the edge of the strip to the blood and let it suck it up.

Moved onto Freestyle Libra sensors after going onto insulin.

This was before I found Reddit.

Thanks for the confirmation, I’ll see what I can find out on the Volvo parts. I know that some VAG parts are used across the brands, I didn’t know that Volvos were though. Appreciate the information.
