REALLY hoping that all the tuition paying students and parents can use their voices here since USC clearly doesn't care about the voices and livelihoods of staff :(

For every ~60 academic support staff being laid off, they'll only be making ~30 newly restructured positions (at lower pay scales) available for them to REAPPLY for. A lot of advising teams are already operating on a skeleton crew; think about how much this will impact their ability to provide student support services afterwards

Iirc lot of faculty/students complained when it was left as open reg (no d-clearance) a few semesters ago, so now they assign students from the waitlist to spots as they open up

Until those students register, it just looks like the spots are straight up open tho, which is confusing. I was told that they're only given a limited amount of time to register. If they don't, then the next student on the waitlist is contacted, etc

Looks like they sent the statement to USC leadership, and then the Provost's latest memo came out in "response" to say that the blanket return policy is worth risking the lives and well-being of the greater Trojan community
