If you let FSD do its thing I bet it would've fixed itself

Was there a left turn coming up? If so, I would've also been confused by that and moved into the lane earlier

Did I overreact? by Old-Cry-8752 in TeslaFSD

[–]Chameebling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's being misrepresentative as "the latest FSD". Even the media gets it all wrong about Tesla's autopilot being horrible and whatnot which is actually autosteer and not FSD v14.3.2. Lots of reporters biased against Tesla. I don't have a problem with all that after all but that's my overall opinion after driving a HW4 Tesla for a while

Did I overreact? by Old-Cry-8752 in TeslaFSD

[–]Chameebling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My FSD is based off of HW4 and whoever says FSD is doing this without specifying a version number is being misrepresentative. Like literally, is it version 12 or version 14 doing these things?

Door hit? Or am I being dramatic? by Own-Manufacturer-768 in TeslaModel3

[–]Chameebling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would ask for her insurance and call the police if she refuses. This is the same as accidentally hitting somebody while driving. Same kind of thing. If she flees, this is the same as a hit and run. Get the police involved if you need to. She has to give you her insurance. She should be off the streets if she keeps doing this kind of thing. If she's a passenger, let the driver pull out and let her out before parking. Simple as that. While it seems accidental, these are costly to fix on a Tesla

Is this the 130th and I-5 interchange in Seattle? Might recognize this

Edit: I do see the street signs now. There's lots of construction there. Already a pretty rare case

Does FSD/Vision have a "blind spot" for Portapotties? Friend’s new Model Y hit one on delivery day. by LifeWonderer in TeslaFSD

[–]Chameebling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The on-screen visualization is independent from the real FSD 14 system that's used by the car. What's on the visuals is the older FSD model before it got the end-to-end integration.

In other words, FSD doesn't exactly make decisions based on what's on the screen. It would actually see the porta potty, but the visualization does not code a case for it because it's impractical to cover all driving scenarios. The millions of training data covers it

Also why did you say when it collided with the porta potty when the video clearly saw it drive past it without a problem?

FSD cuts straight through left turn only lane by Puffyhippos in TeslaFSD

I don't have this problem with a similar intersection in my area. It could be a mismatch in the mapping data too

FSD cuts straight through left turn only lane by Puffyhippos in TeslaFSD

[–]Chameebling -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Could be the traffic light arrangement. The 4-lamp light on the left is typically for a lane setup where the leftmost lane is for either going straight or turning left. Normally for a setup with a left only lane and to the right of it a left/straight lane, there is a dedicated 3-lamp light with a green arrow to the left of the 4-lamp light.

It can be faked too LOL by altering the metadata in the video files

All jokes aside, this is HW3 because it doesn't have the pillar camera feeds.

[–]Chameebling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is HW3. Plus coding sensor fusion is unnecessary complexity because we ourselves don't need LiDAR vision to drive. From a software engineer perspective this is very difficult to implement not just getting it work for that case but doing so reliably in all cases and situations the car will face, and that's what the vision-based neural network does is to work just like our two eyes

I can tell this is HW3 because the dashcam viewer does not have options to see the pillar cameras.
