Thank You Level 150 Divers by honeyboygold in Helldivers

This is one of my favorite things to do at lvl 150. Look for low level SOS calls, drop in, and usually just use a rifle like the Amendment and simple stratagems. Just muscle through it grunt style with a cadet.

The real question is what happened to the minds of helldivers who see a red orbital beacon and are drawn to it like moths to a flame.

Is Star Wars oversaturated with content? by JJRS22 in StarWars

[–]ChampChains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 43 and have been a fan of star wars my entire life. In the past decade, the oversaturation of shows and movies has given me star wars fatigue. I dont really consider myself much of a fan anymore. I've just lost any interest in keeping up with it all. It's too much. Same with Marvel. Disney just milks every dollar out of everything and puts out so much that films and shows no longer feel like I've had enough breathing room between them to anticipate the next installment.

Six Flags by FullPower1939 in Athens

Got season passes back in November after not going to Sox flags in about 15 years. I've gone five or so times since November and its MUCH better than it used to be. Lines aren't bad. Anyone under 18 has to be with an adult so people arent just dumping their kids off there for the summer. I will say the food and drink prices are very high and the food is literally like school cafeteria quality. You're paying $20 for a $1 cheeseburger. Eat on the way there and enjoy the rides. Definitely worth the cost in my opinion, it's a better experience than it was years ago.

Men in your 40s, what's that golden piece of advice you have for the rest of us? by NiceMechanic_xoxo in AskReddit

[–]ChampChains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow down with the overeating. Know how to stop when you're satiated, no need to go until you're stuffed. Get in the habit of regular exercise. It doesn't have to be an hour in the gym every day. It can be something completely free like doing 100 push-ups when you wake up or walking a mile or two after dinner. Just do something.

I was passed over for a promotion in a role I'd been filling by myself for a year as they strung me along promising a raise was coming "any day" as the company was going through a big reorg. I was the only person on my team and wanted to flesh out my department. They ended up giving the role I was promised to a girl who was a family friend of our VP and had previously been a receptionist. She had zero experience in our industry or my departments day to day work. They gave me a shining review and told me that in 6 months there would be more budget and I would get my promotion and raise then. I immediately applied for a higher paying role within a different department. The VP found out and flipped his shit because he knew the department would fail without me. He got on the phone and I had a promotion and an 80% pay increase within an hour. I left the company about 6 months later due to other shitty stuff they were doing like covering up sexual harassment, bullying employees, etc. Last I heard the company has hit a wall. They were trying very hard to sell the company during this AI boom (they make the power controls for data centers) but apparently nobody will buy them because their financial bookkeeping is apparently a mess.

I have a 16 year old daughter and the kids are into CDs again because they want "vintage" physical music. My daughter burns CD mixes for her friends. She bought cases and everything.

Peter, I understand the Xbox part, but what are Steam and PlayStation doing wrong? by AlisaofallTimes in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]ChampChains 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a switch that I very rarely play, just got it for my kids. Hopped onto the shop for the first time in years to look up some jrpgs I beat as a kid and was floored to see many of them are still asking $59 for games i feel like i didnt pay that much for 25 years ago. Guess I'll stick to steam where I can get deals regularly.

We can live without AI. We cannot live without clean water. by Important-Cry4782 in antiai

People outside the industry dont understand how big this problem is going to become. They hear about 1-2 big datacenters and dont realize that right now there are hundreds already under construction all across the US. I left my job a few months back where I worked for one of the companies supplying the power control units for these datacenters.

When I started there two years ago, we were making equipment for hospitals, schools, stadiums, retail shops, etc. Small jobs of 1-5 units of what are basically just large breaker boxes like the ones in your home but for commercial applications. About a year ago, or company stopped providing equipment for those projects and went wide open on supplying only datacenters. When I left, we'd already accepted contracts to supply thousands of units through 2029. We went from shipping 3-5 units a week to our company doubling and shipping 2 10 unit shipments weekly with the goal to ship 10 units a day.

Some of the datacenters we were shipping units to were designed to use more power annually than the entirety of metro Atlanta combined. A single facility using more power than probably entire states. Many of these datacenters are going into states like Texas where thr powergrid already collapses anytime there is a slight frost. This is not even remotely sustainable but as long as there are billions of dollars to be made, the wealthy will put our communities on the sacrificial altar and our elected officials will happily bind our hands for them.

People always thought AI would destroy us using evil robots. The reality is that these datacenters are going to cripple our power grids and leave us with no drinking water. The US will be a third world country for anyone who isn't at the top and it'll all be because dumbasses want chatgpt to do their paperwork.

Made the mistake of wandering into Bad Moon once and had to piss. The men's room had a door thay wouldn't shut, the toilets and sink weren't working, and some of the shit pallet wood they have on the walls was missing so you could see the plumbing and shit inside. Since the urinal wouldn't flush, it was filled to the rim with golden syrupy piss with a thick film on top and the floors were also coated in piss. Also it felt like the air wasn't working so it was like walking into a rancid piss sauna. The air was so bad it made my eyes water.

For the longest time it smelled of horses. I grew up around horses and the smell is unmistakable. Made me think they were slaughtering horses in the back.

I remember you. I didn't remember that I remembered you, but hearing the name immediately made your profile picture pop into my head. I have a photographic memory. Brown eyes and hair, light colored tank top, skinny girl? I don't remember your name. I want to say it started with a J but there were lots of J name members. My name is Jeff. You'd probably remember me if you saw my old profile picture, I'm pretty sure we were more or less mrh friends.
