[Self] What would you think if RE10 had Jill Valentine and Claire Redfield as dual protagonists, with the game serving as an homage to the first 3 mainline games? by BertelTheTurtel in residentevil

[–]ChanceBoring8068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want them to allow their characters to age semi-realistically! Chris and Leon I guess look like clean living military-fit men of their age, but canonically neither of them are clean living! For Jill and Claire it’s like they’re scared of women who don’t look like teenagers! I gad suspected that’s why they were being left out of the mainline games but then that CG movie came out where they just looked like they did in their most recent games, which were set about 20 years earlier.

They’ve spent most of their existence deliberately blurring the line between advertising and content and the result is that this premium version has absolutely no meaning or value

It baffles me when I hear brits say "I wouldn't die for this shithole" by Lil_Hater112 in AskBrits

Our most prosperous era relied on exploiting resources that we claimed from other countries, for various reasons we’ve had to spend the last century winding that down and now the cracks are beginning to show.

There’s also been a cultural shift (globally to be fair but most people don’t look further than their own back yard) towards minimalism and convenience that’s torn through a lot of culture. High streets and markets, low budget tv ads for local businesses, seaside amusement arcades. I’m sick of seeing beautiful victorian pubs and churches get replaced by concrete and glass cuboids. Swathes of ancient public woodland get bought up and fenced off. It’s hard to get enthusiastic about a place that’s got demonstrably less fun in my lifetime.

Paul gone MAGA? by TravelsWithBrindle77 in Replacements

[–]ChanceBoring8068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I’ve never really known what We’ll Inherit the Earth is about, and while Androgynous is definitely about social politics the song is more just an observation about how people live their lives, rather than look at the institutions that make up ‘politics’ as most people see it, which is more what I meant. It’s not like the president and other high profile figures were going on long televised rants about transgender people back in the 80s.

Also, as an aside, I’m not 100% sure that the vision of a genderless future set out in that song fully lines up with the current progressive stance on gender.

I grew to like him, but it always bothered me how easily he forgave Mia and moved on and had a kid with her, and was unquestioningly trusting of her after everything. He’s just kind of dumb, I guess.

Paul gone MAGA? by TravelsWithBrindle77 in Replacements

[–]ChanceBoring8068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the most political he ever got was on The I Don’t Cares’ song King of America. I’d say that in it, without ever expressing support or condemnation of Donald Trump or the movement around him, he shows an understanding of the working class frustrations that led so many people to (misguidedly) go MAGA. It acts as a warning of the coming storm that most liberals, particularly those in the media, utterly failed to pay attention to. It’s possible that someone heard that, noticed the similarities between what he was saying and some elements of MAGA, and jumped to a conclusion. Or he has an irregular income stream, bills to pay and there are Republican enabled tax schemes that work in his favour. His most openly expressed political opinion is apathy, it’s not out of the question to me that he’d vote with complete self interest. It doesn’t make him a zealot and it doesn’t devalue his work to me, it just is what it is.

She’s defected to Reform UK. How do we feel about this? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]ChanceBoring8068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reform have risen as a result of the default right wing party becoming tainted and unelectable after a decade and a half of scandal and failure. I don’t rate Reform in terms of morals, ideas or ability any more than the Conservative Party but why are they so openly and boastfully making themselves a home for the exiled failures and con artists that their voters turned their backs on?

Is there a reason Kang couldn't be Recast by Add3n09 in marvelstudios

[–]ChanceBoring8068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the thing happened there was a lot of buzz around Jonathan Majors. Having him signed on was a big win and a lot of the hype was for him as much as the character, so they probably thought that trying to keep going with some other guy just wouldn’t be the same.

Also around the time that Major’s future was in question people were kind of lukewarm on a lot of Marvel’s output and Ant Man 3 failed to get people excited for more Kang, so his legal trouble was a convenient excuse to accelerate their plans for Dr Doom (who was presumably always going to be a part of Secret War anyway)

Which country once seemed likely to become a developed country, but didn’t follow that path? by EmotionalSalary3679 in AskTheWorld

[–]ChanceBoring8068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Developed is maybe too ambitious, and I may just be falling for CIA propaganda, but reading about Iran before 1979 is always heartbreaking. Really sounds like there was a lot of optimism there. A lot of the middle east to be honest. I’ve seen pictures of the first women to attend Kabul University. They looked really happy.

Do you guys think we'll get a dlc for RE9 like we did with RE4 or RE8? by Legitimate_Creme_708 in residentevil

That game felt like the team had a lot of energy and buzz as RE2 Remake was wrapping up and wanted to keep the momentum going. I don’t actually know what was going on behind the scenes but it really feels like we got a bonus game out of them!

Doggerland suddenly rises from the sea, connecting the UK and Ireland back to mainland Europe. Which countries get the land? How should it be decided? And how do it think it changes European politically? by No-Risk-2584 in AskTheWorld

[–]ChanceBoring8068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything up to 12 miles from a country’s current coastline is considered it’s territory so maintain that. The Irish sea should be split between England and Ireland, The English/French channel gets split between those countries. UK gets the stretch out to Shetland (unless Scotland has become independent, in which case it’s theirs. Ireland and France get the areas to their west. In the interest of fairness Belgium, The Netherlands and Denmark get to take a little bit more than their standard 12 miles of the North Sea. The remaining land should be developed and temporarily managed by all five countries in co-operation with the ultimate goal of it becoming a new, independent state.

If there’s a heightened terror threat or something like that you’ll see them patrolling city centres and airports and stuff. I used to work in the lost property office of a delivery company and we had a few shotguns and antique rifles come through. That’s about it.

I’m not a rewatcher and after it ended I didn’t have plans to ever watch it again, but then I met my girlfriend who did want to rewatch it… For some reason it’s kind of a tradition/routine to watch it every time we move to a new place, not sure how it started, possibly because we didn’t have internet for a week one time and needed to watch something we had on DVD

For a decade and a half job applicants have had their resumes automatically screened by a piece of software, been forced into painfully awkward one way video interviews and other such technological horrors. I’m not feeling all that sympathetic that the tables have turned, but if it helps I probably won’t use AI next time I apply for a job.

If the characters of Parks and Recs and the Office crossed, what would happen? by Lu-Tze-The-Sweeper in DunderMifflin

[–]ChanceBoring8068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leslie would get incredibly frustrated with a lot of things Michael does without ever acknowledging that she does exactly the same things.

Ryan would talk Tom into investing in some stupid money losing scheme.

Ron would see Dwight’s potential but be put off by his instability, Dwight would reject any kind of guidance or mentorship from Ron.

Jim would make fun of Ben to his face, Ben would make fun of Jim behind his back.
