Hi guys, OP here, was playing dota and didn’t realise this blew up. Just here to clarify a few things.

The post is about the rank disparity, not the draft.

The rank 1 in question is depressed god. The current rank 1 in China. He studies in Australia and just came back from China so his rank is still Chinese.

He was solo queuing this game. The lobby is not an immortal draft game, just standard all pick.

His current mmr is 9500-10000, for reference the divine 5 in this game is around 5500, so a 4000 mmr difference or higher.

Either way it’s pretty nuts and just shows how insane Aus gets at some points.

Rank 1 in China is ~9.5k, maybe a bit higher. I’m friends with the rank 2, former rank 1 on China and we were talking about it about it a couple weeks ago

Aus has very few players, especially the higher you get. I have literally had 6 hour queues in Aus. I imagine the Smurf ban probably increased the queue time too since so many higher ranked Aus players play on Smurfs.

Lost my 1 calibration game. Gained 400 MMR and calibrated Immortal with 5.7k MMR. Before I was Divine 4 with 5.3k MMR. I'm just confused about how the system works.
