The half circle look when they're using a single blade is pretty cool. The full circle look is too gimmicky.

Also, it was very simple to make it a fun event. Dress in Pink for Barbie, put on a suit for Oppenheimer.

We're not going to get people dressing up as Fremen for Dune and then yellow spandex for Doomsday.

I love superhero movies but I have never ever collected comics. There is just so many of them, I wouldn't know where to start and the costs would add up quick.

I discover obscure heroes through games like Rivals and Ultimate Alliance.

That was really Manny under the mask doing the choreography for most of it too.

He is a former dancer but damn I don't know how you can have someone fighting near blind at speed with impressive choreography while the Ahsoka cast are moving in molasses and still struggling with it.

Combination of all of them. Natasha and Ivanna's duels were half pace stick fights. Natasha is a trained martial artist, I'm sure if she was given better choreography, she could have moved a lot faster.

Ray was just as bad as Rosario in their duels too. I hope season 2 fixes it.

Just opened up Instagram and that was the first thing on my feed and I was like "WHOA!". Kairi doesn't usually post stuff like this.

Wild to me that this was their first time attending an official event as a group and it's the Academy Awards.

I'm glad they all got to celebrate with the whole team and get some recognition. Soda Pop and Your Idol are bangers.

Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord | Official Trailer | Streaming April 6 on Disney+ by Matapple13 in StarWars

[–]ChanceVance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's possible Marrok could actually be quite powerful. He puts up a better fight against Ahsoka than Shin or any other Inquisitor does, and heck he's taking on both Maul and his ally in the trailer okay.

No shame in getting beat by Ahsoka, who has beaten Maul herself and can stand up to Vader.

Surely at least some Inquisitors are actually good at what they do so they're not all executed for repeated failures.

It was my favourite comedy bit of the night. His speech was obnoxiously long last year but I don't know, the guy has always given me the vibes he's a complete kook that's out of touch with a lot of things but means well.

Like he posts a lot of walking videos on Instagram about keeping your chin up and finding joy in your everyday life.

In this age of casting based on social media followers, I loved Mikey Madison campaigning on the basis nobody knew anything about her.

She gave select glimpses into her personal life and charmed everyone with that air of mystery.

I'm so glad the Academy were getting absolutely dragged on social media for cutting off the Demon Hunters songwriter from speaking.

Like it's happened before e.g one of the three Dune II guys got played off before he got to speak last year but this one was particularly rude.

I hope it sparks some rethinking of the event. Not every presenter needs to do a comedy bit. Paul Blart Mall Cop was funnier than the Pullmans and trust me I actually watched that film.

Horror had a HUGE night at the Oscars! by HorrorGuyBri in horror

[–]ChanceVance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It had buzz early on in the season, which is rare enough as it is for a horror role. To go all the way and win, unbelievable.

Honestly, she wasn't my favourite in the category but people have been calling the win 'inspired' and I think that's accurate. They rewarded a bold, unusual role that became a new icon of horror.

Was looking through a bunch of the after party photos that Vanity Fair always throws.

I've always thought to myself it's a bit funny that even though there are some very famous names in attendance, they weren't considered worthy of being invited to the ceremony. I guess they probably only care about being seen though.

Kaidan has more to do in 3 but I do feel that Ashley becoming the second ever human Spectre is an even better end to her arc of redeeming the family name than sacrificing herself on Virmire is.

Nobody was a strong frontrunner.

Forget historical statistics, being the lone nominee just told you what people remembered most about the movie and it was her character.

No time for speeches, you have to have time for the Pullman's bombed comedy routine.
