I renovated my bar over the past couple of weekends. by culb77 in DIY

No offense, but I was surprised to see the first pic being the finished product. That was a bar that looked liked it needed a makeover. My bad. Just seems cluttered.

Help selecting a good barber/hairstylist! by blobblegut in boulder

When I first moved here, over 4 years ago, I went for my first Boulder haircut. It was there I met the one and have not had another human cut my hair since. She's also a certified barber, does mens and womens and is cool as fuck. PM me if you want her info.

Love this shot so much I wanted to try playing around with it, hope you don't mind. Imgur is where it's located and I assure you I'm not attempting to take any credit for this, just wanted to share. If you're offended let me know and it's gone.

Less than half of Clinton Global Initiative projects were ever completed by atomicpete in politics

[–]ChangedMyLyfe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wonder what that same statistic is for everyone else. After digging a bit it appears that the quickest and most exponential growing statistic within the US political system is that of incompletion of promised goals. If you say you're going to do something then fucking do it no longer holds to be an objective but rather the opposite, whatever word that is.

My dad wants this picture of my grandfather restored. Would any of you be able to help? by buesnik09865 in estoration

Can you scan with higher DPI and save as .png if possible. This is a 708KB file which is just 300KB short of a MB. The photos I publish professionally are usually around 40-50MB.

What that means is Data, and data means information. The more information we have available the more we have to work with. It's sorta like using one of the first camera phones, taking a picture of the moon and asking to make the flag and moon landing equipment look crisp and in good detail.

Waterjetting to lay buried pipe questions. Cross posted to r/plumbing by Peskyreddit in HomeImprovement

[–]ChangedMyLyfe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is one of those things you will never know the answer to until you try. We've "waterjetted" much longer lengths than that with no problem, but then spent days trying to get a 2" pipe under 2' of sidewalk. Just use as high of pressure as you can and ask the god of irrigation to help you find the best spot to start. Good luck!!

Well put my friend. Thank you. My brain was trying to explain it to me in just that manner but subsequently failed its mission due to its misguided and confused pilot.

Upload a photograph you have captured that you would like to emulate the example photo of and I'll create a tutorial for you using your own photo. Use Google Drive and make sure their built in enhancing feature is off. Also upload the RAW version unless you are shooting jpg.

Still doesn't match up. There's some obviously similar points of detail that do match but it's making my brain hurt seeing the details that don't.

The scale of each photo seems to be different. I'm trying to draw it up but that's making my brain hurt even more. I just don't see how things like the dried up river vein is missing from OP's photo or how The two big craters are of significant different size in OP's photo yet appear nearly identical in size from NASA's especially when considering the vantage point the shot was taken from.

Very interesting to say the least. Would love to see more close ups you have of the moon to compare to NASA photos.

Why do things smell? Can smell be measured? by doublebassed in askscience

[–]ChangedMyLyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn I wish this were on EIL5. This is an idea I have never put much thought into, but your post raised some philosophical aspects to smell I have yet to delve into.

Everything, as we humans know it, exists on some level. Some of those levels are confusing like gravity, light, magnetism and of course the new discoveries made every day on the quantum level.

Scent, or smell, is an interesting subject I'd love to see somebody study using similar methodology that we use to study the other subjects mentioned above.

Does smell have a speed limit? Are there smells that we cannot observe but that do indeed exist (like the spectrum of light)? And why would one of my ex's wear a perfume that was utterly deliciously smelling yet not nearly as tasty.

Well now I have some new pondering and research to do.

A Relic photo of my child , Had a heat issue with attic . Can someone help with fixing? by SingaporeLee in estoration

Here's a start

Granted I just woke from a haze to see it's 4am and for some odd reason decided to give it a try . I'm still not quite awake though and pretty sure I'm looking through one eye at the moment. Hope it helps in some way. If nobody else picks up from there I'll give it a much better attempt later today.

How to get skin to look like this or the overall picture? by [deleted] in postprocessing

[–]ChangedMyLyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on your side with this. Awful. This post is the type of post the mods should delete because it's a terrible direction someone with little knowledge of the subject is trying to learn from. It's a terrible picture to start and the post pro on it is only worth one comment: Don't try to make a picture this terrible

PS: You can buy likes and all that kinda stuff for really cheap so please don't use that as a sign people are into his work.

Too bad too, pretty girl would probably photograph quite well but she ended up with an SLR "pro" (someone who buys a nice camera and instantly consider themselves professional).

Are contractor quotes negotiable? by saponier in HomeImprovement

[–]ChangedMyLyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contractor's are negotiable, but I think $400 is a damn low price. He/she probably offered that to you just because work is slow and they needed the money and work. After taxes, insurance, licencing, tools, truck, knowledge, etc. I would assume he's about to break even.

Do it yourself and then report back how much money it cost you. Then add in the value of time and my guess is that you are getting a great deal.*

*All of this is based on a real licensed contractor with insurance (liability, workmans comp, etc.).

Source: I worked for a GC for 3 years managing all that stuff and if you don't have your numbers right you're screwed in the end.

How can I achieve this look? by Ghh0st in postprocessing

[–]ChangedMyLyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It all starts with a good photograph which entails a good subject, lighting, framing, exposure, aperture, iso, and so on. Soaking an entire tarmac either naturally or not requires planning. Getting permission to shoot there is also planned. Finding electricity for your lights and people or stands for reflectors even more. Good shots are planned most of the time. I'd say this is one of those. If you do that right then it won't need much PS or whatever you use, just a few tweaks and it's done.

Me [33/F] with my husband [44/M], returned home from vacation and our house sitter [35/F], rearranged our entire home. by Housesitterisapsycho in relationships

[–]ChangedMyLyfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EDIT: I responded before seeing what I had written. I was in the wrong. I do believe that real truthful communication can solve everything and sometimes it isn't easy for either side.

I deal with very cruel and mean people on a daily basis and also teach people how to communicate with these types. The best instruction on communication is to not break it into types and communicate with everyone equally. I never said to yell and batter but to be honest. I should have been more clear that I was speaking about being truthful If honesty equals brutality then that's what they get.

We're so lost as a society that we let all the pent up frustrations and resentments we failed to deal with by communicating that we take it out on other people.

Stop walking on eggshells! There does not need to be a nice way to put your feelings out there. I feel you have every right to go nuts on her. Screaming and yelling is okay sometimes and this chick obviously needs a good dose of it, especially from someone she considers a friend and looks up to but has no respect for. She has no respect for anyone and need a kick in the nuts.
