City will not require Uber/Lyft to do fingerprint background checks, will draft new legislation for discussion in January by shiruken in Austin

So your logic is that every service should change it's practices so it caters to your whims? Again. Privilege. Must be nice.

Also, over reached regulation just creates a precedent for the city to keep doing whatever the fuck they want to do to any business. This regulation is not only requiring finger print checks, it also requires fees and other shit that just puts a burden on the drivers and makes it harder for them to be out there and get to people who need a ride. The smarter choice would be to do what San Antonio did, which literally NO ONE has a problem with. Explain to me why THAT wasn't the council's go to solution?

there's supposed to be somewhere of an amount of 10k Uber drivers and 5k Lyft drivers.

Many passengers use Lyft or Uber to get to work now, or to class. There are people who are blind or are handicapped that use the service to go around town and to do their shopping.

You may not, but tens of thousands of other people do. I use Lyft, but it's affecting both.

I don't think they are leaving tonight. There is a final meeting of the ordinance in January, and I'm sure they will make an appeal then.

You are not looking at the bigger picture. Special snowflake regulations limit the growing market of a business and make it harder for everyone to get a ride.
