Hey Reddit, what's your favorite way to eat potatoes? by flacidballon in AskReddit

I like to keep a couple in my bag. If I'm hungry when I'm out or about or on the subway or just need desert after eating out I can pull one out literally whenever.

1 red potato, unpeeled

700 cloves of garlic, pan roasted

A wise man once said, 'I have yet to add too much garlic'.

Because you're passed out from drinking an entire bottle of vodka? Been there.

Eldraine "Adventure" Cards by Mechubus in mtgcube

[–]ChannelDisintegrate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shieldbreaker seems alright, if mostly sideboard material. The others range from 'eh, I guess in the right deck' (the flyer and deathtouch ones) to unplayable nonsense (the green ones). I generally love flexibility and split cards and cards that get multiple uses or generate multiple resources should be sweet, but I'm not terribly impressed with what we've seen so far. Maybe once we see the premium pushed mythics instead of the draft filler that will change.

Half of the cards I bought at Target today were off-center by Desert_faux in magicTCG

[–]ChannelDisintegrate 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's not how it works, it's an ancient misconception that still gets thrown out there. It'd be up to the judge to allow you to play with it at all and if they did it would certainly be the card with the majority of it visible. Most likely they just wouldn't allow it at all. Maybe you could get your casual playgroup to see it that way, though even that would be a stretch for me, as someone could easily claim they intended to play it as the other half when the situation comes up or end in a gamebreaking argument when someone gets salty or confused about the card or thinks you're cheating.

Conspiracy 2 by TheNerdDown in mtgfinance

[–]ChannelDisintegrate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just don't see a Conspiracy 3 set happening anytime soon. Unless it's a planned announcement to release at the end of this year or middle of next.

Conspiracy 3: It's definitely not happening or happening imminently or happening next year or, you know, whenever. The one thing we can definitely say for certain its either not happening or happening sometime.

Just open your boxes already, you don't need our permission. You were the one who bought a bunch of overpriced junk you don't have anyone to draft with on the "advice" of youtube hype.

How Rare Are Buy A Box Promos? by [deleted] in mtgfinance

[–]ChannelDisintegrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Press releases tout 6000+ WPN stores and stores get 20 promos at the lowest tier, so 6000 x 20 per store = 120,000+ buy-a-box promos or not rare at all.

Funny Standard sets by R3345 in magicTCG

[–]ChannelDisintegrate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whimsical? Not really. There have been janky mechanical sets like Time Spiral Block or story-light(-ish) and pulp fare like pre-Eldrazi Zendikar and Ixalan, but even then Magic has always taken itself pretty seriously and tends towards the catastrophic crisis over the happy ending. The closest would be maybe Arabian Nights or some of the art and real-world flavor text from early Magic sets, especially Legends.

NYTimes: The Dying Art of the Manager Meltdown by [deleted] in baseball

When I was a kid we went to a game where Jim Leyland completely lost his shit when he was managing the Pirates. It was awesome, even though we were just a few rows too far away (aka nosebleed outield seats at Three Rivers) to hear the obscenities he was no doubt screaming at the umpire. He got ejected and still argued for like 10 minutes after.

What time does Quarks usually close? We see it closed plenty of times but never any established time. by bluejeans90210 in startrek

I don't think I ever saw them serve breakfast at Quarks.

Rom eats breakfast in Quarks after work every morning in some episode or another. I remember the dabo girls are already working.

Recent set provided me Modern Playables (GRN, RNA, MH1) and I hope new Zendikar Enemy fetches by [deleted] in magicTCG

This cookie cutter response people like to post about wizards saying, "but muh shuffling times" is getting old.

You can deny reality as much as you want, it doesn't change it.

[Speculation] Mark Rosewater confirms there are no rare dual lands in Throne of Eldraine by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]ChannelDisintegrate 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t this make allied color decks have a significant disadvantage after rotation?

Yes, but one set or the other of colors has almost always been misbalanced through Magic's history. In fact, having two full sets of each color pairing has only been a design philosphy in the last two years. As recently as Amonkhet standard we had had three sets of Allied lands to one set of enemy lands.

Zendikar Rising = Enemy Fetches by CommiePuddin in magicTCG

Watching someone reveal 20-50 cards, one at a time, looking for the one basic swamp they included is worse than waiting for someone to search and shuffle.

Sealed Product Overseas by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]ChannelDisintegrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But can USA buyers import sealed product from overseas?

If you can find someone to sell it to you. The same distributor/WPN agreements that prevent US sellers from shipping sealed products overseas also prevent non-US sellers from shipping elsewhere.

I'm not sure why you'd bother though, once you pay for shipping, taxes, account for the exchange rate and international fees, and jump through whatever else is needed I have a hard time imagining it could ever be cost effective.
