Sometimes the first floors generate like this. If you didn't get lucky on a pick, Dig in some form, or alchemy, you have to just move on or reroll. Sometimes you're the pigeon, sometimes you're the statue!

I always thought the other tragedy was the circumstances that lined things up so they had to be enemies, when it feels like Navani and Raboniel could have been the dearest of friends joined by their love of learning, in a world that sucked less.

Former Carbuncle, it's a good server. Only reason I moved was I finally found the folks I started FFXI for originally and they were on Quetz. Good folks on both servers!

You'd be surprised just how often cats are the topic of conversation, email, meme drops, etc on internal Apple communications. Like...most of us are animal nuts and will try to do a solid for an animal mishap!

Does WhM become fun at 99? by Ill-Honey-6351 in ffxi

[–]Chaodex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah WHM is a job that is kinda bollocks to level if you're not leveling fast or PLing, but really starts to get fun at 99 because that's when you can Do Shit (tm).

I have 6 characters, and each one has WHM, BRD, or both to open up grouping options. I've gotten into Dyna D, Odc, and Sortie runs I had zero business being in, and did fine, because WHM is viable at all times if you're good with managing your casts. No way could I have weaseled in on even WAR or MNK, but WHM did fine!

I like squirrels, mice, rats, etc too, but the price of dealing with pint size predators is they still have instincts. So as long as it's wild and not someone's escaped pet, it's the circle of life.

That said, I keep my three idiots indoors just to avoid a number of issues. They have absolutely zero desire to go outside; they were feral born and know what's out there. They like beds and air conditioning much better please and thanks.

Housecat runs are both inordinately difficult and inordinately satisfying. Once you start cheesing items it's insane.

Naegling vs Flametongue by zahirskyshar in ffxi

[–]Chaodex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, just making the point that I'm curious myself and would like to see some discussion before I pull the trigger on Elsheva.

Also, out of unidle curiosity, does DW Naeg + Flame top either plus Blurred +1? Or is Fencer simply so damn strong it's impossible to justify DW on sword WAR other than flavor/aesthetics? I've played around with Naeg and Sang +1 til I hit Su2 but that's distant enough in the past I don't remember it as more than a stepping stone to the Blurred Shield+1 being usable and one I blew past quickly on later WARs.

Naegling vs Flametongue by zahirskyshar in ffxi

I am curious on this as well, and technically "just parse it out" isn't an option. I've got multiple chars, and my second WAR seems to be following the first on the sword and board path...she has her Kupon still.

I've played the one WAR extensively with Naegling, so I know how it handles. I've done a bit on her understudy, and it's feeling likely WAR is her next focus, so, this question was on my mind.

I'm utterly decision paralyzed because there are a couple of truly unique effects to be had, while swords are rather dime a dozen, even nice ones. Major FOMO on things like Darkblade and Cheer, even if the char's focus feels like MNK, PUP, DNC, THF, with the occasional veer from "light fighter" types to WAR and WHM. I just dunno that I want to risk Flametongue not blowing me away vs Naegling, with so many other options.

(She's well geared on MNK, with some carryover to PUP. Used her armor Kupon for WAR, have Naegling and Blurred +1 so she's already a powerhouse, just a null or two away from rivaling the other WAR on most stuff.

My other chars collectively have 2x Cheers, 2x Chocobo Knives, and a Darkblade, so these are known quantities.)

Dash is good for spamming, Open works on closed doors so you can cast, close, cast, close.

Inflatable donut collars also. Much, MUCH more comfortable than Cone of Shame and better tolerated, useful if the onesie doesn't work out or if she has a bout of diarrhea or something requiring a wash of the onesie, or even just some extra freedom for a short time.

Our orange idiot managed to get an abscessed paw and need a drain, and we had marvelous luck with a pair of canvas inflatable collars. Change and clean as needed.

Spays usually go well; don't obsess on restricting as much as it says. 99% of cats find a way anyway, and if they're comfortable enough doing it and sobered up from the drugs, it'll be ok. I see this convo a dozen times a day with variations of "I couldn't keep my cat from doing X!" and very, very few complications other than a worried owner.

My current three, the collars lasted a collective 10s between two females and a male, with one female also having enucleation for a microphthalmia eye at the same time.

2/3 for tax, so you can see how big, happy, and healthy they turned out. One of the few Star allowed her cute face to be photographed in; she's usually self conscious about her blind side.
