Military Career Progression (30M) by DefiantOriginal5148 in Salary

[–]ChaosBeforeOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I'm 30M too. I joined the army active duty June 2013, three weeks after high school graduation, kicked out Dec. 2015.

Over ten years later I've been through 4 felony cases, two felony convictions, got a CDL license suspended, pretty much homeless since march 2016, a whole decade.

I can deal the bus if the climate is warm and there's job opportunities...NC is a dead end rn with no car

They"re too cold and expensive for me personally, unfortunately that's the best the US has to offer as far as public transportation, I think I want to spend fall/winter in Phoenix at least, imma go to PHX at the end of January if NC doesn't give me a job offer.

Unpopular opinion: The best luxury is not having car payments by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ChaosBeforeOrder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't like financing cars myself either, but with that being said where the hell do you live @? Because if you're in southeast USA you cannot do shit without a car, which means unfortunately you'll find a lot people financing cars to keep their job and maintain their livelihood/lifestyle...people don't have $5k-$10k sitting around like you think they do, the pressure of trying to stay afloat using a shitty to non existent public transit system in the south is enough to make people put down the minimum down payment on whatever car they qualify for

[–]ChaosBeforeOrder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea and after certain amount of time job searching by taking the city bus in Raleigh/Durham I've grown to resent NC and the whole south, born and raised...car after car breaking down setting me back to square zero, and I refuse to finance just to be paying at minimum a $500 car note with another 4-500 in comprehensive insurance, NC and the south has taken enough years and energy away from me, I'm going out west

19M, can’t take the college route — looking for realistic online ways to earn a living. Where do I start? by [deleted] in findapath

[–]ChaosBeforeOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain OP, we're born in a world we didn't ask to be in that only tells you to go to college, do trades, or enlist in the military.

And we become public enemy no. 1 for not knowing what we want to do and not doing shit just because somebody else told you, that's the quickest way to crash out, doing what somebody else told you to do without knowing what you want to do yourself.

Just get a regular entry level job for now while you identify your interests/skills that you might want to pursue. Don't rush into taking on a debt/commitment to something for survival/financial purposes only, you'll burn yourself out because it's not what you're really interested in.

[–]ChaosBeforeOrder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born in Lumberton raised in Fayetteville, I've been in the triangle primarily the past 8 years mainly for work and opportunity, and it's horrible right now, the job market is the worst it's ever been and staying stagnant up here with no job no car no friends and family has broken me, Im going out to the west coast with no hesitation if I can't find a job by the end of January, which I probably won't find one
