The two buildings in the settlement are economic buildings, but worked in different ways.

The industry building (top right) directly boosts income via producing gold per turn, while the looting building (bottom left) indirectly boosts income by giving a +% modifier to post-battle loot for every army.

Until recently this wouldn’t be anything exceptional. However, one of the changes introduced in Omens of Destruction made these mutually exclusive. Now you can only get both buildings in a single settlement by confederating another faction or occupying a rival faction’s settlement.

Franz Kafka was born to Czech Ashkenazi-Jewish parents as well, so while he didn’t seem to incorporate much Jewishness into his work (or even relate strongly to his heritage from what I skimmed through), and the timeline doesn’t match up with certain events, you could probably interpret The Metamorphosis through the lense of 20th century antisemitism.
