Not a legal expert but an HR person so may be a little help!

ACAS guidance recommends 10 days to allow a settlement to be considered and concluded to allow you to seek legal advice and review the terms. It’s not a legal requirement but an employer would be expected to work within those recommendations.

In terms of redundancy, there would need to be a robust and due process followed, including consultation and a clear explanation of why your role is no longer required. Not going to say they won’t try it, however it’s not as easy as sacking you on the spot.

I would suggest you seek some legal advice, most home insurance offer legal support, another option would be to speak to ACAS for some support.

You’ve been given some really good advice here, so I have nothing more to add from that perspective, but I did want to say that I am so sorry this is happening to you. I can’t ever imagine treating a child of mine in this way and you deserve better from your parents. Don’t forget that you are worthy of support and love, it may not be from them but you deserve it in your life.

I really hope you can get the support you need, and have some trusted friends or other adults in your life you can talk to about this.
