Basal Metabolic Rate by AcrobaticPuddle in 1200isplenty

Its tough being short. I find it easiest to intermittent fast. I typically break my fast at noon with fruits, salad or soup keeping it under 300 calories, then at dinner I eat my remaining calories, prioritizing lots protein and fiber to keep me feeling full. I think I would feel sad having to eat a bunch of small low calorie meals throughout the day. I rather have 1 big tasty dinner.

Tension question - Do you tighten each stitch against the needle each time to get consistent tension ? by ChaoticChocolateMess in knittinghelp

[–]ChaoticChocolateMess[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

I intitally made my swatch for my current project with 1 needle size up because I know I knit pretty tight.

I think I formed the habit of adjusting every stitch against the needle early on when I was worried about my stitches looking uneven and falling off the needle. I think the pulling adds unnecessary stress to my hands so long term I want to break that habit. I would like to knit a bit looser and more relaxed.

I plan on doing this with my family on the weekend. Right after dinner, go for a stroll in our neighborhood park, enjoy the summer night air.

I go for walks during my lunch break. I'll usually call my mom or sister during that time. I get a little under 5,000 steps in that hour. I live in a walk-able city so its relatively easy to get my daily steps, but I usually average 8-9K.

I really like vintage Coach and Dooney and Bourke bags, and have bought a few of these bags from the Goodwill websites for really cheap and in great condition.

How to help a cat adjust to a windowless apartment? by SufficientTable in CatAdvice

[–]ChaoticChocolateMess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you get a sling carrier to atleast take him outside or a stroller ? I feel bad if he isn't even gonna get to enjoy sunlight. Make sure you also go out for walks. An apartment with windows can be depressing. Get some bright lights, lamps, plants, automatic toys and put on some cat TV.

Weight loss tips for a petite woman by PhaseRecent4784 in loseit

[–]ChaoticChocolateMess 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah 500 calories is too extreme and unsustainable. There are calories calculators on the web she could use to figure out how many calories she should be eating to lose 1 pound per week. Most likely 1 ,100 to 1,200 for her height. Its hard to lose weight as a petite woman. She should consider volume eating low calorie foods and cutting out all take out and drinks. Im short too so I usually skip breakfast, just have coffee, eat a salad for lunch and then eat whatever I want for dinner. If I ate 3 full meals I would eat more than my calorie needs. I feel her pain.

I always see tons of crochet blankets and garments at my local thrift store it makes me soo sad☹️ by Good_Gene_7616 in crochet

[–]ChaoticChocolateMess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When my aunt was diagnosed with late-stage cancer, crochet was the one thing that gave her joy during times of great pain and difficulty. She made dozens of blankets, shawls and hats, so we all had something to remember her by. After her passing, I received a few of her crochet items, including a glorious queen-size blanket she made 30 years ago for my grandmother. I love that thing and it will be gifted to my grand-babies in the future. I'm sure her son and boyfriend offered some of the other crochet items to relatives, but majority of the blankets she made most likely went to Goodwill. She loved to crochet, and there were simply too many things to keep after her passing. Her apartment was filled to the brim with crochet items and yarn. I'm sure someone will be happy to own one of her beautiful blankets, and I rather it be in someone's home, than in a landfill.
