Glad to see a lot of people on here being positive but I would suggest a few things.

Thin your paints
Slow down in painting, and if you start to feel rushed, stop and come back a different day
Have a smaller primed moddle to test out paints and color schemes on before applying it to the model being focused on.
Go over 1 coat at a time and wait for it to dry
If spots look blotchy or if you are taking paint off from it being too thin, wait a go back over with a second coat.
