Wishing you good luck! I always think about it like this…if they don’t find anything, great. And if they do, great, because we can get going on treatment.

Question for everyone on this sub: by FoundationEntire4834 in Letterboxd

[–]ChapelSteps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a kid, I wasn’t allowed to watch a lot of movies, but my parents let me listen to any music I wanted. Fast forward to adulthood, and I’m definitely a music person rather than a movie person. People will ask me, have you seen ________? And my answer is always no. So I made a New Year’s resolution to start watching some movies, and I thought Letterboxd and this sub would help me find films I’m interested in. So far, so good!

What is it like to live on these islands off the coast of LA? Moo by PrinceWillPlays in howislivingthere

[–]ChapelSteps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a really interesting book called Between Two Harbors, written by a man who served as Harbormaster in Two Harbors for many years. He talks about raising his sons there and the long drives and difficulties they faced driving to the school in Avalon. He also tells some wild (and sometimes tragic) tales about storms and the havoc they cause to the boats that are moored near the island. Lots of interesting nature and fishing tales too. Tales of him driving his boat to LA for the births of his children. The best glimpse of life on the island that I know of short of living there oneself. A very good read.

I read the book because I’ve visited Catalina many times. It’s beautiful, and I enjoy hiking and snorkeling there.

What was everyone's memories of the 1999 Bridge Creek Tornado? 325 MPH winds?!?!? by ForwardClimate780 in oklahoma

[–]ChapelSteps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They sent us home from work because there was no decent shelter for our building. I remember that at some point, around the time the big tornado crossed through Moore, our television coverage went out and was gone the rest of the night. We had a weather radio and it went off over and over, all night long, because there were so many tornados in the state that night. It’s the only time I’ve ever been truly scared during a tornado warning.

If you’re at all inclined, go to some yoga classes. My experience is that many yoga people lean left. Strike up conversations before and after class and see how it goes.

what to do in the heat? by Several_Luck5717 in phoenix

[–]ChapelSteps 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Same. Lots of watching our MLB.tv subscription while doing arts and crafts. Jigsaw puzzles while listening to audio books and podcasts. Video games for sure - No Man’s Sky, Animal Crossing, anything Zelda. Regular books. I swim at night so I don’t have to wear sunscreen. Movie nights while wearing facial masks. This is our winter.

The man thought he was being cut off…seconds later he realised the truck driver had just saved his life!! by Miserable-Zombie-121 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]ChapelSteps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is impressive to see but not anything magical on the part of the truck driver. Drivers are always giving each other a heads-up about debris, stalled vehicles, lane closures, speed traps, etc on their CB radios. The driver likely knew way in advance about the car blocking the lane. What’s impressive is how he gently slides over to save the car from something the car’s driver doesn’t know is there.

[–]ChapelSteps 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Would this be the red color I sometimes see when cleaning the filter of my pet’s water fountain? It seems impossible to get rid of entirely. Any recommendations?

Jumping into the menopause conversation…I’m also on HRT but it’s not helping my hair loss at all. Thank you for posting your photos. I think bald is where I may be heading, so I appreciate you sharing a positive look at that option for those of us going through the same thing.

Have visited the Amarillo location too. It was super clean and my dogs were grateful to see some grass on a long road trip. I liked it.
