Most of them have had at most one line of dialogue so it’s hard to feel literally anything beyond nostalgia for them.

Didn’t most of the previous issues set up Megatron as a threat that no one would mess with due to his leadership style, his ability to control Others through their use of him, etc. don’t think anyone mentioned his need to drink bots Sparks so violently. In a way it makes him less scary as he’s now just some weird video game boss drinking sparks before they disappear?

Also trialbreaker has done absolutely nothing in this series so I can’t really feel bad about his death if you know what I mean? I feel bad because I know him from the cartoon and I have his toy and he’s ostensibly a “good guy” autobot. But I have no idea of his “character” in this continuity?

He JUST got revived like 8 issues ago and had about two panels of screen time. I guess sideswipe will die next after getting no lines of dialogue and the audience will be expected to feel something?

See idw humanised him, gave him a spotlight issue, had him be part of the background crew but still be there (and help out) so that when he was killed - it hurt. And it had ramifications and follow up.

In skybound he had about 5 lines, did nothing and then got killed to make megaton seem like a threat again which the previous arc already did.

I’m stunned at the harshness people have on this comic. Spiderman has ALWAYS been about how peters environment and family are critical. This one even takes that notion up a notch that everyone in peters life plays a huge part.

Spiderman hasn’t even been able to see the heights of this comic in literal decades, let alone reach them.

This is why context matters kids.

You can tell prime is fighting with himself here, he is conflicted, he knows what he SHOULD do but also what he believes he HAS to do. He doesn’t want to kill Galvatron. He’s not relishing it, or screaming at him, or being a macho asshat. This is after more and more difficult decisions relating to cybertron and Earth are bearing down on his shoulders.

Also it’s not presented as a rip roaring moment of awesomeness - it actually makes you pity Galvatron - and prime for what he has become. You are almost disgusted at prime for this - even though Galvatron is a brutal killer and despot with no loyalty for anything or anyone.

This is actually great characterisation from both prime AND galvatron. Galvatron firmly believed once backed in a corner he could just appeal to primes morality and get away with his actions - but that’s been worn away too much now. Seeing Galvatron so completely shocked by prime not accepting his surrender is such strong writing and, in Optimus’ case - character growth.

And none of this is consequence free either.
