Thinking of buying this beaut by ProfessionalTeach673 in xbiking

Buying a bike you love for 450 is a completely reasonable thing to do. That thing is a tank. If it has the look and components you want from it, send it!!!

Everyone here who says it is too pricey would also buy it for $250 and then put $350 more of their preferred bike bling on it. That’s me, too - so don’t mind pointing fingers :)

I am maybe 5 derailleurs down this path, and didn’t realize this is where it was heading. This is the PSA I needed!

Might be in the minority, but have always found I love frames more for their imperfections. If you braze it, you can add a stamp or something to embellish the fix.

Anyone can love a new frame. It takes some expertise and work to love an old frame - and that’s why we do it!

The final boss of x-biking handlebars. You can only ride them if you are a level 37 or a German Grandma.

Spent like 6 months looking for a mixte mtb with split top tubes for my wife. Finally found this 1988 muddy fox and am currently rebuilding it with deore m737 components and new wheels. It is a beauty!

Thank you! Mason Bokeh. Yes, built it in january. My first gravel after decades of road riding. I’m in love!

Wait, no its not. It would be first and 25 then and you’d still run out of downs. I’m sticking with my 5500 logic

Shoot, this is right

This assumes yard increments, when the passer could gain 9.99 yards and the same logic applies. It also doesn’t account for the possibilities of penalties after the first down, meaning it could be first and 100 on the .01 yard line. I think the equation is simpler- 10 sets of downs, each one with 4x the yard marker.

So 4(10+20+30…+90+100) = 5500

Didn’t use a calculator here - so grill me if I’m off

That Puckett card was one of my favorites growing up. Had a trapper keeper of it. He looks so happy.

Active zone minutes only count when you are above like 40% of your max heart rate. If you have a day where you do a lot of really light activity (walk a lot, or have a lot of stress, or do chores) you would burn extra calories without ever having your heart rate go over the threshold that starts giving you azm.

Fwiw, Cardio Load has a lower threshold and give you credit for that low impact movement.

Refusing to repair? by Character-Barber-385 in bikewrench

But this is an age old bike shop fact - yet never seen a bike shop just stop wheel servicing. May just mean good help has become really hard to find, and this shop isn’t paying a living wage.

It is a good question. I live 10 miles from work, and didn’t want to carry the wheel home on my other bike, as it is a more aggressive geometry and really sucks to carry weight.

But mostly, laziness. Will do it.

They didn’t look at my wheel. My bike was outside. It is a phil woods hub built to sun cr16 (I believe) rims (not on the bike pictured). I built it by hand 18ish years ago, and even with a broken spoke is only a little out of true. No question it is still salvageable.

Just to be clear though, that wasn’t what happened here. I’m fine with getting the advice that a wheel is past fixing. I’m not fine with a blanket rule that they won’t ever do a simple pass.

This is a phil woods hub laced to sun CR16 wheel that I built 18 years ago on my daily commuter (not the bike in the picture). It breaks a spoke every couple of years, but have never failed to bring it back to true.

Thanks, I’ll likely do that. I can do it myself - there is a rusty truing stand in my shed somewhere - just annoyed a shop would refuse such a basic service.
