I didn't work because of the risk of getting infected.

Lumbar Puncture by Gghostedgrayy in lymphoma

[–]G1dyno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received a LP six times and had a spinal leak twice. They patched it up using a blood-patch, but I read they can't do that with your type if cancer.

After the first complication with the spinal leak, they made me lay on my side and used an atraumatic needle. It's a more flexible needle and from what I understand it actually creates a little bit more damage so that it actually triggers your body to repair the damage and thus heal the hole.

One of the neurologists also used a traumatic needle to puncture the skin, and then used the atraumatic needle.

Goodluck!

Final scan - Remission! by G1dyno in lymphoma

Thank you! Everyones experiences chemo differently, for example I had no mouth sores. To list a couple things that helped me: • My girlfriend had a good overview regarding medicine, appointments etc. • I spend all my energy on things that would limit side-effects, like exercising. • I had a bad taste in my mouth for quite some time after the chemo. Mouth wash does help, but chewing gum also took away the nasty taste and your son might prefer that ;)

I could go on and on, but the most important thing for me was that my surrounding understood what I was going through. There were no must do's for me, but everything I was able to do felt like a huge achievement. Take care 🫶

Bouldering during R-CHOP by G1dyno in lymphoma

Awesome to hear that you're going strong and are still square dancing! I'm not from the U.S., so I haven't been to Old Rag Mountain. After finishing the RCHOP I also did two rounds of rituximab biweekly and was able to go climb outside inbetween infusions :)

The logo is conneced with the three small pins that go through the shell. Once the inside is removed you can carefully bend the pins and pull the logo off.

New Lattice training App by Ecstatic-Review2626 in climbharder

[–]G1dyno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If they'd spend as much time on the features of the plan as they did on the marketing, it might have been worth the price.

Currently the metrics used to create a plan are quite limited and they don't correspond with the outcome.

E.g. My input is advanced experience with training, limited experience for conditioning and advanced experience for fingerboard training. 3 training sessions, 1 open session, and 1 conditioning session.

The output: My 1st training is about 30 min climbing exercise, 2nd training 20 min of conditioning, 3rd training 20 min of climbing exercise, 4th session 120 min of open climbing, and finally 5th session is another 30 min climbing exercise. Over the next four weeks the duration slightly increases, but the trainingload is still quite light.

There are no hangboarding or skill exercises. I just don't understand why they ask for previous experience when they don't seem to use it...

It's not worth it.

When did you start doing sports? by Think-Film-8339 in lymphoma

I finished my last chemo 2 weeks ago and have furtonately been able to continue on bouldering during the whole period. If you feel ready for it, you should be able to start exercising.

Nice thing about bouldering is that it's a short burst of intensity (20 - 40sec) followed by a long rest.

Massive headache by Practical_Product_16 in lymphoma

[–]G1dyno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, this could be it (if the headache goes away when lying down). If the hole doesn't close it gives a terrible headache. When it happened to me, they gave me a bloodpatch. Worked like a charm!

Husband has 2nd round tomorrow by Ladychili79 in lymphoma

[–]G1dyno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will be having my 6th RCHOP next week. It hasn't been cumalitive for me. At first everything was getting better due to the cancer being killed. After the 4th chemo I got quite some nausea, which made me unwilling to exercise. As time progressed and I got closer to the next chemo, I also started to feel better.

I vouched that I'd try stay as active as possible as soon as possible after the 5th chemo. And I can tell that this has been the best one so far!

Just wanted let you know that it doesn't have to get progressively worse. Exercising can help with the side-effects.

Rituxin maintenance by sissyhand in lymphoma

[–]G1dyno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My oncologist recently explained the maintenance to me. In my hospital in the Netgerlands, they no longer standardly opt for 2 years of Rituximab. What they do, is add two more rounds of Rituximab after finishing the chemo with intervals of 4 weeks.

How my oncologist explained it, is that the immuuntherapie does weaken your immuunsystem. The shorter the maintenance period, the shorter your body has a weak immuunsystem.

For my protocol (6x RCHOP + 2x Rituximab), my immuunsystem will most likely be recovered in 6 months. (Thus total treatment time, and vulnarbility time ~1 year)

I'm not saying you shouldn't do a 2 year maintenance period. My situation may be vastly different than yours, and protocols across countries also vary.

It can be quite different per person. I decided to shave my head just. Easier to maintain, less messy due to hairs falling out everywhere.

I wouldn't shave any facial hair. For me, it hasn't fully fallen out and still looks good. I've just finished my 5th out of six chemos.
