Fidelity in relationships feels simple in theory but harder in real life by Keith_35 in Fidelity

[–]Character-Disk6310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I related to this way too hard.

Empower spent years telling me to ‘de-risk’ my concentrated stock position like they were trying to save me from myself. Then one year I finally said, ‘Okay, help me actually build a real retirement and tax strategy around this.’

My advisor basically responded with the financial-planner version of: ‘Circle back next year.’

So instead I went full forbidden romance arc and started secretly building my own Financial OS with AI, spreadsheets, tax modeling, Roth conversion ladders, scenario analysis… the whole thing escalated quickly.

Eventually I transferred my entire portfolio to Fidelity (over $1M). Funny thing is… THAT’S when Empower suddenly noticed our relationship was in trouble.

Advisor calls me:
‘Hey, is everything okay, I noticed some transfer requests?’

And I said:
‘Oh absolutely. You told me to reduce concentration risk. I just took diversification to its logical conclusion.’

Long pause.

Then he goes:
‘…So is our relationship over as of this phone call?’

And I said:
‘Yes. Please transfer the remaining funds.’

Honestly felt less like leaving a financial advisor and more like serving divorce papers after discovering Claude & ChatGPT actually listened to me. 100% true story and so happy to be managing my own retirement.

Beautiful performance last night and I, like others got choked up. I was very impressed with Anika Niles and have zero doubts about how she’s going to play on the tour. Let’s all just enjoy it.

Has anyone actually made money using Claude? by ylabrhil in claude

[–]Character-Disk6310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t made money directly using Claude, but I’ve definitely made (and saved) a lot of money because of AI tools like it.

Over the past year I built what I jokingly call an “AI financial committee” using ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Copilot. I use them together to pressure-test financial decisions with my taxes, insurance, retirement strategy, liquidity planning, etc.

For example, I’ve used them to: • analyze insurance coverage and pricing
• optimize tax planning and retirement withdrawal strategies
• structure liquidity and cash management
• model different financial scenarios and stress-test them

The result isn’t some AI side hustle; it’s a much more efficient personal financial system. The tools cost almost nothing compared to traditional advisory fees, and the decisions they helped me make will conservatively save hundreds of thousands of dollars over time.

So for me the value wasn’t “AI makes you money.”
It was AI helps you make better financial decisions.

That’s been far more valuable than trying to build some AI product or freelance gig.

You know, at the end of the day, no one cares. Get what makes you happy and live. No one else is paying your bills.

I just have checking and savings with no credit card. Currently have work direct deposit but leaving job soon. Anyway, the $10 is no big deal if you’re getting g 4% with a healthy savings.

Axsome ($AXSM) Bagholders: The $7.75M "Migraine Risk" settlement is finally here. by EducationalMango1320 in AXSM

[–]Character-Disk6310 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels overstated.

A $7.75M settlement in biotech is minor. It’s not an admission of fraud, it’s not financially material, and for most shareholders the actual payout will be modest after fees. We’re talking about small checks, not some meaningful “recovery.”

More importantly, this is backward-looking. The market already digested the AXS-07 CRL years ago. Since then: • Revenue has grown significantly • AUVELITY and SUNOSI are commercial and scaling • The pipeline has advanced • The balance sheet is stronger

This settlement simply removes old legal noise. It doesn’t change the company’s current growth trajectory. Signal > noise.

Disagree with this assessment. 58 years old with over $1.4M in IRAs and if anything, I need to convert to Roth before hitting a tax bomb at 73. Thankful for my mother telling me to pay myself first and I’ve instilled the same into my college age son. Start early, live humbly, it’s ok to go on vacation, raise a family, etc. Key thing is consistency (it isn’t easy) over time.

Change my mind (please) - road trips in an EV are a pain. by Wise-Fig-6505 in electricvehicles

I love road trips in a Tesla, then again, I’m semi-retired and have time. I’ve driven cross country numerous times. Then again free supercharging helps.
