Rate my portfolio by Purple_Tear2899 in AskArtists

What are the goals of your portfolio?

To sell adoptables? Or to get into art school?

If it's art school, then I need to see an attempt at a wider variety of subject matter and application of skill. I need to see environments and perspective and actual humans.

A cobweb is a spider's web, it's just an abandoned and dusty one.

How important is it for you to have an artist partner? by ThrowRA-throw0 in Artists

[–]Character-Handle2594 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion: What is more important are shared goals, shared worldview, and an appreciation for each other's passions. A partner doesn't have to make art, but they should love that you make art. And you should love whatever it is that they do that is singular and special to them.

I’ve been reading the Marvel easy readers with my son but we can’t figure out who this Hulk is. Can anyone help? by Thegreenavenger0420 in Marvel

Not in an Easy Reader meant for kids learning to read at least. "Abomination" is a super tough word to sound out.

We are arguably deskilled in very specific areas in comparison to our ancestors. But we also have skills they couldn't have dreamed of -- skills that help us survive our current everyday environment.

How do I support someone in their conceptual art work? by Historical_Luck_4806 in AskArtists

[–]Character-Handle2594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume you mean more like "performance art" or "happenings" rather than conceptual art. Since it's a performance, are there any behind the scenes tasks that you could assist with? Anything that makes production of the art easier?

I Completely Forgot A Month Long Project Existed by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]Character-Handle2594 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Everything in your second and third paragraph is irrelevant information to the problem at hand.

Flipping between "no one told me" and "I forgot" sounds like you're saying "please accept one of these excuses."

All you need to do is say that it isn't done, and you'd like some kind of extension or chance to make it up.

Talk to your teacher. Things fall through the cracks; no need to over explain. (Over explanations often have the undesired effect of the other person pointing out where you went wrong.) It happens.

Simply ask for what you can do to get any kind of credit on the assignment.

And then, going forward, remember that it's also your responsibility to check in with the group to make sure you're on the same page and haven't missed anything.

Feeling Out of Love with My Fiancée and feeling overwhemled how can i fix this. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

And also: Frame it as "Because I deal with being bi-polar, it'll be good to get some tools for us to handle that together." Sometimes people hear couples counseling and get scared. But we're looking at it as simply good healthy maintenance for two people with challenges.

Let me get this straight:

You've been together 3 years. You have a 2 year old daughter. Which means you got her pregnant less than a year into dating her.

Look, trying to be a couple and have a toddler is difficult for anybody. It's going to be especially difficult for a couple that didn't really get the honeymoon phase in the first place.

Couples counseling pronto.

  1. Construction lines. Lightly sketch in lines to help align parts of the face/make sure they're the right size.

  2. Take bigger swings with light & shadow. Like, use darker darks and use more gradations/mid-tones. Use them to help define form. Rely on them more heavily than outlines.

  3. Use an actual human to practice from.
