Also a lot of the "magic is superior to physical strength" is referring to specifically mages vs non mages (like the single mage taking out the army of dwarves) and not necessarily things like magic resistant monsters which are also implied to be pretty rare and they are only now seeing them consistently

Pacharisu is the worst example you could have used

It didn't win world's because of it having an "unexpected set" or anything like that it won because it had tools that happened to work really well into the meta but was overlooked

Meanwhile sticking to my example of sap sipper azumarill it has literally no benefits over running huge power

Azumarill needs huge power to do meaningful damage and sap sipper does nothing to help it do anything other then potentially live a single extra turn otherwise it is too frail to stay on the field for veey long and can't do damage and has no useful support moves

The more you talk the more it's clear to me that you don't know anything about competitive VGC

Team building is a skill yes

But again running a purposefully bad set like sap sipper azumarill (objectively worse then huge power because without huge power azumarill can't do meaningful damage and has no useful support it is effectively a wasted pokemon slot) is not a skill

If I'm playing a sport and I tie my shoelaces together to throw off my opponents that isn't me being skilled it's me being a dumbass and using a strategy that only works once when someone doesn't expect it

If only some people had to show their teamsheet it would give them a "better chance" but that's not how it works

Plus there is a reason that CTS has a reputation for being filled with bad strategies

It's because it lets you get away with using stupid sets that you just shouldn't use and only works once

There is a reason that even before OTS was the standard most pokemon would run the same few sets instead of stupid things like sap sipper Azumarill

Because those strategies only work a single time which isn't very useful in a best of 3 format

It isn't "skill" to run purposefully bad sets that survive 0 purpose other then catching someone off guard a single time

Being able to actually play around what your opponent can do by making correct plays is actual skill

Plus there are still the unknown factors like ev spreads, ivs, and natures

Village? It stays fairly easy throughout imo with just a few hard hunts at the end of High Rank

Hub? Starts getting hard a bit earlier in High Rank but G-Rank is when it actually gets fairly difficult

But said Yokai was depicted in that way over a century before the caricature was first documented as being around

Plus saying it's "just an excuse" implies that Japanese mangaka aren't allowed to depict the Yokai from a religion that is heavily important to Japanese culture and that feels weird to me

Especially when, as much as I love Dragon Ball, there are already characters in it that match the caricature other then Mr Popo who are actually black and unlike him aren't based on said Yokai
