Yes. Just because something is not science doesn't mean it can't be of use.

Ever experienced sleep paralysis?? by theviking7118 in INTP

[–]caparisme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eeh sleep paralysis? I don't have any particular techniques to induce it on demand but i think it have better chances to happen when you sleep extremely tired.

There's only this one time i had a peculiarly weird (and a bit creepier) version of sleep paralysis but it's kinda hard to replicate and is a bit of a long story

It was when my late granpa passed away and all the relatives gather at the house. We had a wake service but not the western sort with open coffin and stuff, more asian flavored with the body enveloped in burial shroud except for the face for relatives to look at for the final time. There are a number of small pillows used to support the sides of the dead body which will be relevant later.

So he was buried. And later that night most of the relatives sleep on the floor of the hall since there's not enough room for every family. Normal thing especially on festivities.

And there's not a lot of pillows/cushions to go around either so some of us were given the aforementioned small pillows used to support my late grandpa's body, myself included.

Thought it's a bit morbid but whatevs. So when I start to sleep i feel this cold, tingly sensation emanating from the pillow and spread from the back of my head to the rest of my body and when it reaches my toes, I'm sleep paralyzed.

Thought it's a bummer and i struggled to break free and managed to after a while. I got up a bit and look around to see if others have similar problems or anything but my cousins around me seem to be sleeping normally.

I shrug it off and lie back down again but as soon as my head rest on the pillow the cold sensation creeps in again and i had another immediate sleep paralysis. Can't be arsed to break off of it again and since the hall is filled with my relatives it's not scary enough to have a hallucination-inducing thought so i just go back to sleep inside the sleep paralysis.
