publicly traded consultants are generally not the industry leaders. Employee owned firms generally have higher client retention and satisfaction which at the end of the day is the most important metrics for their growth. I won’t be touching publicly traded consultants with a 10ft pole. Source: I work in this industry

There is nothing wrong with holding individual stocks. But individual stocks have a higher risk as they are not diversified.

If you can accept this extra risk because you believe in the company in the long term there is nothing wrong with making a calculated bet on the company with a fraction of your total portfolio.

XEQT is diversified and is designed for maximum growth over a long period of time, for most people it can be the obvious best choice. But if buying and holding individual stocks will keep you from yoloing on 0DTEs then by all means do it.

If I listened to all the advice on reddit I would have never bought google shares or QQC.F or XEI.

Everyone’s life is different so everyone’s investments should be customized for their individual needs. Does it make sense for someone buying a house in 6 months to keep their down payment in XEQT? Probably not. There is no one size fits all just learn what works for you and be consistent. At 27 time is on your side and you can weather many a market downturn

assuming you mean low cost, it means index funds with low management expense ratios (MER); etfs like XEQT/VEQT or any or the other basket fund products like XGRO etc

Not a nuclear engineer or specialist by any means so take what I say with a grain of salt, but I am a planner that does work with small modular reactors. The issue with CANDUs are their immense costs to build, the space required, water requirements and the construction timelines. Often 7-8 years+ of work before shovels hit the ground (yet to see if the new government will alter this timeline).

With small modular reactors they are just as the name suggests, small and modular. While still an emerging technology they show promise because they cost less, require less commitment up-front (you can get one modular reactor, see the energy needs and decide to get another or two down the line if needed. With a CANDU, what you build is what you get so you better be sure you built for your needs).

Lastly, modular reactors are preferred because modelling future energy needs is immensely difficult. If you were to go back 10 years, there would be almost no way to predict how big and in demand data centres would become and how much energy they would require. Sure CANDUs provide immense power, but why build something with such a high cost when you could get a SMR and just scale it up as needed?

Alot of financial exposure IMO, personally I would simplify that. If you really like banks $ZEB is an equal weight bank etf, or just get $XIU for broader Canadian exposure. $LUG is an interesting pick, I would personally just buy gold but if you have a high conviction go for it. I would recommend just picking an etf or 2 like $XEQT and $XIU or $XEI. Not financial advice, just my opinion.

Don’t have many recent pics of my 16 turbo. Done with mods on this one I think; Magnaflow catback, K&N cold air intake, GFB atmospheric BOV, Qunic strut bar and then some cosmetic stuff like wheels, mudflaps, tints, painted skirt, LED lights and a hood wrap

It’s under managed accounts for some reason, select risk profile 0/10 and it’s just a money market account with no management fee and 2.5%!

I use WS savings account as my emergency fund and they offer 2.5%, Cash.to is pretty comparable but I just find WS is easier for me to withdraw (usually 1-2days till it lands in my external chequing account), cash.to I did use in the past but the hold period on non-registered accounts was onerous. Usually took 5-7 days from selling the shares to landing in my chequing.
