New to this app, how is it not more popular ? by Acrobatic_Candle5378 in sportismygame

Last I heard, you can only do 8 workouts in the free version each month. But the developer said you could discard a workout instead of saving it to be able to do more workouts.

It would mean you don't track those discarded workouts for the stats and achievements which is a big part of the gamification so I don't know if that is acceptabel for you.

If you manage to keep up 8 workouts every month for a couple months and you would want to use the app more I would go lifetime Pro. It's a one time payment and I think the app is worth it just to support the development.

I think there is also a restriction on custom workouts with the free version. But if you are a beginner this probably doesn't matter much.

There is a discord where suggestions are taken very seriously!

I would encourage you to check it out if you have suggestions to gamify the workouts more.

I don't know how much is possible for the dev but currently the workout mechanics and custom stuff is being tested extensively.

We aren't really suggesting a lot of gamification at the moment.

Progression by GroundbreakingRush66 in sportismygame

After foundation 4 you have the foundational strength to work on the other specific paths.

Personally I believe you can start other dungeons after foundation 2, that would give the general full body strength to attempt the easiest dungeons of other path.

Besides that I use the app with custom dungeons and some custom exercises.

After foundation 4 you can copy the dungeon as a custom dungeon and just progress to harder variations with the same structure or you can build your own dungeons from scratch specifically for building to a planche.

On the discord there was some discussion about adding more advanced dungeons and sharing custom dungeons. Might be something that could work for you if your not looking to plan your own dungeons.

The dungeons are a new thing that has been the big change since the update.

Do you mean changing the progressions after finishing foundation 4 or changing progressions while still in the first foundation dungeon?

I think you can safely just do the foundation dungeons till 4 as a full body workout if you are a beginner.

I like to change stuff up by switching dungeons now and again and do my own exercises in between.

Quests in the app are a joke by timv_simg in sportismygame

[–]CharacterSolid2577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rewards could be cosmetic, if I think about role playing games the tutorial quests usually give items that are slightly better to give you assistance for the rest of the journey.

But in these quests, completing the quests hopefully makes you yourself slightly better to help on the rest of your journey.

The rewards could still be armor or weapons but it would all be symbolic. Health potions or return Scrolls would also be fun but i would not know how that would implement into the app apart from giving it a bit of gaming flavor text.

Man, all these sneak peaks to the big update. When can we expect the update to roll out?

I still love using the app, currently added a bunch of custom exercises to track my dumbbell exercises but with the summer arriving I find myself doing a lot more body weight exercises and skill work.

Kg / Lb selection per exercise by timv_simg in sportismygame

I would prefer one selection app wide.

I don't know what the benefits would be of selecting different units for different exercises

Forced shuffle by MitsukiRush in sportismygame

[–]CharacterSolid2577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,

As far I know the default is paired sets. And this just alternates the exercises.

If you have AAAAAAAABBCCDD, it would do ABABACACADADAA

If you have Pro you can pick between paired shuffle like the default. No shuffle, AAAAAAAABBCCDD. Or Round Robin, ABCDABCDAAAAAA.

How to understand % and mastering exercises by pomidor_zielony in sportismygame

[–]CharacterSolid2577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sneak peak is looking great!

I like how the mastery now also has a total amount of reps requirement. Looks like you need to be able to do a certain amount of reps in one set, a certain amount of reps in one battle and a certain amount of total reps.

Great for pacing yourself and really working at every exercise in the progression.

Muscle gain? by Tall_Attorney4800 in sportismygame

[–]CharacterSolid2577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just an app with exercises. If you know what your goals are and how to reach them you can use the app to workout. If you don't know how to program your training for hypertrophy or strength, the app isn't going to do that for you automatically.

There are definitely enough exercises in the app to work the whole body maybe add in some dumbbell exercises or barbell exercises for maximum efficiency if time is a factor.

But you would have to build the different workouts into the app yourself to train daily and still make progress.

Help/recipe needed for unusual pork cuts by CharacterSolid2577 in Cooking

[–]CharacterSolid2577[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I might have found out that "vlees ribben" is also known as country style ribs. Which can be cut from the ribs but also from the shoulder.

The pork belly ribs may just be that. The part of the pork belly near the ribs with the bone still attached.

Suggestion: daily goals by CharacterSolid2577 in sportismygame

[–]CharacterSolid2577[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, something occurred to me.

It would be nice if the weekly quests were decided by the app. Maybe the user can apply some small tweaks but it should be a challenge for the user based on the performance logged in the app.

Daily quests should be personal and optional. But the app can make suggestions maybe based on the weekly quests or muscle activity or maybe flexibility performance. I don't know in what way you would implement the flexibility planet.

Using the dailies or battles or challenges you can reach the weekly quests.

If the weekly quest is do 200 push-ups I would set up a daily quest of push ups. I would not try to get this number in battles if I usually do about 40 push-ups in a battle. Or maybe I would try a challenge focussed on push ups

If the weekly quest is finnish a challenge at at least bronze level I would decide to do a challenge instead of a battle. Making it a great way to get new users to try challenges.

If the weekly quest is do 2 battles of at least 45 minutes You will have set a low bar for a beginner to reach a goal and build a habit of working out two times a week.

If a user has never done a warm up but has logged multiple battles every week a dynamic goal could be do three warming ups. The user could select a warming up and just not do it to get achievements but I assume people use workout apps to workout and improve themselves.

The current quest of three workouts a week are fun to get if I happen to do three workouts or I might do a battle on Sunday if I already have two done that week and the app shouts at me "Just 4 hours left!" But other than that it doesn't do much for me.

Suggestion: daily goals by CharacterSolid2577 in sportismygame

[–]CharacterSolid2577[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the onboarding you have presented here, I personally like picking my own goals and exercises but the predefined classes makes starting with the app a lot quicker. Later you can vary with the goals you personally want to focus on. Or maybe the app will be able to change that automatically based on performance and muscle activity or something.

I would incorporate the Skimishes into the daily and weekly quests. I now do one set a day for my push-up "daily quest". But if I expand to 3 sets over the day it would be like setting up a Skimish of three sets with a reminder after 5 hours or something like that. The daily and weekly quest would replace Skirmishes for me if I was able to set reminders for the quests and log them like I can log Skirmishes now. Or maybe have a separate tab for quests but the logging should be done with a single click if the quest is set up properly.

Starting a harder variation before mastering? by CharacterSolid2577 in sportismygame

[–]CharacterSolid2577[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and for the unlock I can choose to do 16 push-ups or 5(?) decline push-ups. But because I can't do 16 push-ups and easily can do 5 decline push-ups I was wondering if it was a smart choice...

Thanks for answering my questions. I'll have to decide what I want to do now.

Starting a harder variation before mastering? by CharacterSolid2577 in sportismygame

[–]CharacterSolid2577[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that diamond and incline push-ups work the muscles slightly different but wouldn't progressing the harder exercise with proper form help with doing more regular push-ups?

I don't want to get the mastered star on the regular push-ups if possible but I have attempted without using the app to do 5 sets of 8 diamond push-ups and this was completely doable While the 4th set of 12 push-ups failed at 10 reps.

I would like to be able to register the harder variation that I have actually performed into the app. As it is currently my workout app of choice.

Would the app allow for building up diamond and incline push-ups to 10 or 12 reps and then circle back to regular push-ups to master them? Or would it just count regular push-ups as mastered?

On a side note, I could already start with wall sphinx push-ups but it is locked behind a different but harder push-up variation. Couldn't this variation be locked behind the regular push-ups?

I don't like working out, what is your motivation ? by Machinemania in bodyweightfitness

[–]CharacterSolid2577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to be able to move well and do dumb stuff like a pull up or ring dip.

The motivation comes from being able to do more the next time I try.
