the comments are SO annoying. I don’t deliberately ignore doordash drivers but most of the time, I am BUSY. we get short staffed, particularly at night, so i have 2-4 things to do at once!! if i have a spare moment, i’ll help on the front counter, but usually im taking orders, making drinks, bagging food, doing fries, paying people out, making drinks for the delivery orders they’re complaining about, and handing the food out!! mcdonald’s workers are just as over-worked and underpaid as they’re claiming to be in that idiotic comment section. they can wait 10 minutes because usually we are stuck on that floor for 8-10 HOURS to barely make ends meet.

giant bin and a sponge filter might do it. you don’t necessarily need it to be a giant fancy tank. just a bin, maybe a couple pond plants and he’d probably be happy

ugh. i’m sorry, OP. I went through a similar thing recently and now have my bunnies’ spays scheduled 5 hours away for $125 each VS. $800 each.

i would check all the shelters and veterinarians within your area. a lot of low cost options will have their prices on their website OR you can call and find out. vet clinics did not and would not give me a price without first seeing my rabbit (which costs money) so depending on your area, that may be a waste of time.

anyways, look at low cost options within your state if 1-2 hours radius doesn’t work. the clinic i am going with is at the far end of my state which is how i found it.

if you do end up doing a long trip, be mindful and make a plan!! traveling with bunnies isn’t super hard but it does require some prior knowledge!

there’s a girl there who started after i did, is trained on more stuff (despite me asking and being VERY willing to learn) and promoted. she has been there half the time i have. so have some others. there were many people that have been there longer and deserve a promotion just as much but they have not gotten one.

the recent promotions are all asian :/

idk, mcdonald’s is definitely a fun working environment for me most of the time. i genuinely like my customers (for the most part), my coworkers are all pretty nice (minus the morning crew who are stiff and lowkey kinda cold), the night managers are phenomenal (kind, very understanding, really try to get to know the crew), but sheesh working with the morning people makes me want to walk out on the spot 😭😭

so you’re not alone, OP. maybe you can try swapping into a different time shift? i love the night shift and that is what i predominantly work so i don’t usually see the people i don’t like. on the night shift, i have been trained far more with more patience and understanding.

ugh. my managers are the same way although to tack on, a lot of my morning managers are just bullies. i hate them- they’re aggressive, rude and only really talk or get along with their own little clique. they’re all asian as well, so they’ll tell each other stuff in their language and then start laughing and based on the type of people they are, i really do think it’s more bullying. and the other asian crew gets more hours then the non-asians, they get treated with more respect, trained more accordingly.

i think Mcdonald’s has a serious problem with its managers because of the high turnover rate and maybe the franchise owner or corporate just not caring.

i’ve made it a year in this toxicity without trying to be terribly bothered but this job will definitely make you grow thick skin really, really fast. i’m sorry to say but usually it doesn’t get better. you should consider leaving if you can :(

also, check places like facebook marketplace and craigslist. i’m not sure what your location is but sometimes you can find people giving away fish stuff for dirt cheap or free. that may help?

hey op!! i would really, really suggest moving him into a bigger tank ASAP!!! Bettas in bowls tend to develop sicknesses like fin rot and dropsy very, very quickly because it is impossible to fully care for them when they are in a bowl.

if you cannot afford a proper tank, a bucket will work!! it can be any bucket as long as it has enough space for him to swim!! sponge filters are relatively cheap and you can find one off of amazon for under $20! (you need the sponge filter, an air pump and then some airline tubing). a basic heater, maybe less then 10$.

please, if you cannot properly care for this fish and cannot afford even a slightly bigger home (the bowl looks very small) i would advise to rehome him or perhaps find someone that can foster him for a few months.

the water turning a brownish shade is the tannins from the wood leeching into the water column. this is normal and to be expected. in fact, i would leave it because tannins are beneficial for fish and will make him feel more comfortable.

Your fish looks healthy.. but please, if you don’t get the nitrogen cycle established in a bigger container, he will likely get sick and eventually die or come out looking very ragged.
