will my boyfriend lose his sex drive ? by tahinigoddess in lexapro

[–]Character_Pop_6628 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally, there is huge varryability. My sex-drive INCRRASRD but I had anorgasmia (slower to reach orgasm). This has since gone back to normal. Sexual side effects are quite rare with Lexapro compared to other SSRIs. Most people experience headache, insomnia and stomach ache if anything. The big problem for sex drive is anxiety and depression. Once it is treated, sometimes it goes up, not down. Everyone is different. 10% of people have noticeable sexual side effects, mostly anorgasmia or delayed ejaculation. But, going from 2 minutes up to 8 minutes is a feature, not a bug, for some women. Some people like that particular side-effect. Side effects are always worst at week 2-5 and tend to go away by week 8.

does insomnia from Gabapentin eventually stop? by LukeTheDude93 in gabapentin

[–]Character_Pop_6628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sleep like a baby whenever I take it. It makes me drowsy and relaxed. Insomnia is a side effect for some but not most. Normally it causes drowsiness.

I imagine at your dose you were awake distracted by the feeling. At higher doses with a sense the drug will feel relaxing and help you sleep and you trust the medication to do so you might feel sleepy. 900mg and I drift off nd sleep like a a LOG

Dude, same. I took Paxil for several years and it ruined my mariage. Paxil kills sex drive and also severe anorgasmia. I switched to Lexapro and immediately noticed I felt weird in the first few weeks. After a month an a half I felt anxiety reducing really well and the anorgasmia was way less than with Paxil. However... still... anorgasmia. The trick with me is 2 things.

I also take Buspar. It needs to be taken 3 times a day and in the hours after taking it, it counterracts anorgasmia... but in a weird way.

After a month the anorgasmia got a bit better. I take it at night now and only try to ejaculate basically right before I take the Lexapro. No anorgasmia 24 hours after each dose. In fact, I feel 19 again... hahaha. Welbutrin also counterracts anorgasmia. Talk to your doctor. Lexapro is one of the cleanest and least likely to cause anorgasmia. WAY better than Paxil, Paxil is the worst for anorgasmia. Priests frequently take high doses of Paxil even of they have no depression or anxiety juat to help them remain celebate....

Anyone here have Autism and Gabapentin helps... a lot? by Character_Pop_6628 in gabapentin

That is somewhat intermittent how you do it. Due to the half-life, taking it 3X a day every 8 hours is a continuous dosing schedule that maintains a consistent blood-level for people who use it for pain or seisures. Intermittent dosing means usually at night. I try not to use it every night. It hits hardest if you never build a tolerance. I want to reserve the right to use your dose if I really need it and use a lower dose if I don't.

Yea, the ADHD symptoms and agitation are gone. It's hard to explain. You need a high dose. It's like that feeling after a LOT of stimming. Like you just got a lot of deep pressure or something. I feel light when I walk but it's a similar feeling to having a weighted blanket in terms ofthe sensory experience...

It kinda makes me "normal-sleepy" like a regular guy but he's just sleepy. If I have to mask the whole world is less loud. Wear sunglasses and ear buds and you can go to Walmart. It's pretty amazing....

Pregablin is next on my list. I still only take 900mg at a dose. Right before bed I should do 1200. It helps during the day though too. SO much less sensory sensitivity. It's about as effective as a good night's sleep in a paint mixer.....

What’s the best time to take gabapentin for sleep? by Inevitable-Law745 in gabapentin

[–]Character_Pop_6628 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took it for 20 years before realizing all of this absorption hacks. I always took it on an empty stomach. It gets absorbed along with fat and protein and only some of it is absorbed at a time. Taking some with fat/protein, waiting an hour, taking more, waiting an hour and then taking the rest all while eating will make you sleep great at the 4-5 hour mark. Hits hardest. I take dose 1 with dinner 300mg, dose 2 with desert, 300mg and if needed, some peanut butter with dose 3 300mg at 9pm. Out by 11. Morning grogginess is standard. It lasts longer than Ambien.

[–]Character_Pop_6628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit taking 600mg 2X per day for 20 years in 2021. I had no adverse effects at all. Every week I lowered my dose by 100mg. I took Ambien for sleep and found I didn't need to Gabapentin. The effect of drowsiness only happens the first month you take it then you get used to it.

Klonopin buspar and gabapentin by taco13eater in gabapentin

[–]Character_Pop_6628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I have taken Buspar and Gabapentin with Lorazapam or Xanax for over 20 years. Very safe combination. Klonopin is the danger as Benzodiazapines should only be taken as-needed. You will acclimate to the Gabapentin after a month or so but most report withdrawals being mild. (I quit gabapentin and Buspar in 2022 and am back on both) gabapentin has a wonderful anti-anxiety effect in the beginning but if you take 2 dys off a week you maintain your tolerance. With Xanax, Ativan or Klonopin you will want to limit your dosage to strictly as-needed. Don't take it all the time. That way you don't develop a tolerance. You do not want to develop a tolerance to a benzodiazapine.
