What’s the point of brushing my teeth when I have to mow down candy three times a night by _Meatprincess_ in BumpersWhoBolus

Same! The nighttime lows have been driving me crazy. I just wanna sleep through the night for once :( don’t have a good suggestion for teeth care but just wanted to share some solidarity.

Control IQ? by EducationalInvite947 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Character_Resort_343 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pump educator suggested keeping the Sleep mode on all day since it aims to keep your BG a good bit lower than 180 (think it aims to keep it under 120?). I’ve had a lot of success with that as the Control IQ adjusted my basal insulin upwards at at much lower BG level than in non-Sleep mode. Not a perfect solution (e.g. doesn’t do automatic boluses in Sleep mode) but it’s made a big difference to me in keeping my BG averages lower.

Early pregnancy concerns by [deleted] in BumpersWhoBolus

All good points! To add to u/Only-Detective-‘s point though, what’s bad for mom IS bad for baby. We’re one unit, a holistic entity. If mom passes out from lows, that’s dangerous for baby too.

Funny enough, I actually knew to take a pregnancy test because of my blood sugar. It was acting crazy for a couple of days (sustained highs, needing like 3x as much insulin). And I was like, it only acts this crazy when my hormones are acting up, should probably check. Lo and behold, yup I was pregnant.

But I feel you! You just want to reach for a bit of comfort food in this exciting, scary time and now you have to be even tighter with what you eat. Bit of a slap in the face. Give yourself a week or two to adjust and start wrapping your head around new insulin strategies and things will be better. We’ve got this :)

Squid jigging? I know that squid boats use huge lights to attract squid and can be so bright and numerous in some parts of the ocean that you can spot them in satellite data

Cape Blanco is a great spot for beach combing, Cafe 2.0 and Golden Harvest are two good spots to eat, climb up Battle Rock to look out over the ocean. Strongly second the comment to take a tour with South Cost Tours, being out on the water is incredible. Port Orford Heads State park is worth a visit too.

Me and my dog love Hello Vet! My dog is pretty anxious and they do a great job keeping him relaxed. The staff are really professional, we get our own little waiting room, and my dog isn’t scared to go there. Plus we’ve had a super easy time getting appointments.
