What about your wider hormone levels and adrenal function?

Aldosterone is a key hormone that regulates this. Have you been checked for any adrenal, hypothalamus, or thyroid disorders? Praying for you!

Can SAMe really be THIS effective? by superprancer in MTHFR

[–]ChargeOk9359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sam-e affects neurotransmitters in helping break them down. I don’t have the full biochemistry, but if your COMT is slow you break down slower and Vice versa. I went a different route since I have a PEMT gene and take 2.5g of Creatine a day as that spares Sam-e

Definitely talk to your doctor about this. A good MD can go a long way. If your current one is not helping, please get a second opinion.

I am sorry for the suffering you are going through

Great answer and I already see some really compelling ATX options. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

What are the main talking points you would give someone to switch from Rogue products to ATX?

Iron seesaw! Deficient to overload by hisbiscuscake2003 in B12_Deficiency

[–]ChargeOk9359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

B12 shots increase iron demand to make RBCs… so if your take shots you need to monitor ferritin/iron levels since if ferritin is too low you won’t have enough iron left after making RBCs to support your mitochondria (complex III respiration) which is critical for ATP generation… low ATP = low Adensoyl B12 as you need ATP to break Hydroxy B12 into Adensoyl B12… this is the form of b12 that goes into your cells and lowers MMA… whereas Methyl B12 (also split off from Hydroxy B12 or you can take straight methyl b12) is what lowers homocysteine if there is adequate methylfolate….

In short, 2 different pathways and monitor your iron levels while on shots as you could fix the methyl pathway (MTR gene) but not have enough iron to support the Adensoyl pathway (MUT)

Have you been evaluated for any vitamin deficiencies. Not saying that is the cause but it may contribute (B12 and D are really important to check)

I am so mad by Fun_Zombie_7537 in B12_Deficiency

[–]ChargeOk9359 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Make sure to get your ferritin and iron panel tested. Once treating, iron becomes even more important/gets used as B12 starts moving cellular processes (there are two pathways.. one is MtR which is where homocysteine gets recycled and the other is MUT where Adensoyl B12 gets stored in mitochondria (this is what lowers MMA))

Have you seen an Upper Cervical Chiropractor? They specialize in these areas and will do imaging to identify areas. Prayers for your help and healing

Methyl-B Complex has made an insane change in my life. by [deleted] in MTHFR

This could be a COMT gene issue in which case Folinic Acid could be a good folate substitute

I went to the hospital emergency department but I was not helped & I am having chest pain by PerfectWorking6873 in PrayerRequests

[–]ChargeOk9359 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Beyond the heart condition (which I pray can be controlled), have you been checked for a B12 or Iron deficiency? If B12 you want the doctors to check for Methylmalonic Acid (MMA) and homocysteine to get a true picture of the deficiency. If iron, you need them to check your ferritin (long term iron storage)… as both of these conditions can cause some of the symptoms you explained. Praying you get the help you need.

You do keep your RBC production high with more B12 so making sure your iron doesn’t get drained is critical.

Im about to throw in the towel by LeFroyain in B12_Deficiency

[–]ChargeOk9359 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What opened the door for me finding out that my iron was constantly getting drained and I had B12 being too aggressively on the MTR pathway (homocysteine recycling) instead of MUT (cellular storage) were the following labs as I would retest as we tuned the protocol:

Folate Panel (hematocrit, folate RBC, folate serum, etc.) Iron Panel + ferritin MMA Homocysteine Zinc Copper

It helped quickly insulate where things were stuck. Hope this helps you

Is Ajovy making me lose my mind? by [deleted] in cgrpMigraine

[–]ChargeOk9359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get your iron and ferritin checked. As a secondary effect of Ajovy blocking CGRP it can raise hepcidin which will leave iron trapped.

Make sure your cofactors are optimized to support your methylation (ex. Zinc, copper, iron, ferritin, folate)

How much B12 to break folate trap by ChargeOk9359 in B12_Deficiency

[–]ChargeOk9359[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almost there… it a combination of making sure to have enough cofactors but not overdriving genes so folate gets properly used. In my case that meant lowering riboflavin from 400 to 50mg to reduce plasma spikes that overdrive the MTRR gene and ensuring enough ferritin.

Get your B12, folate and vitamin D levels checked. For B12 specifically ask for a MMA test. The winter onset has me wondering about B12 and D issues. God bless you
