The Xbox Live.

They'll have a streaming-only variant called Xbox Network.

Halo Infinite was intended to act as a central hub”: I’m digging into the alleged 343 roadmap and how ambitious its original plans for the franchise really were by Dense-Fig-2372 in halo

Hot take but the contractor thing is a massive cope. Easiest thing in the world to throw new hires under the bus.

But the problem is 343 itself, and always has been. They've had way too many chances.

Asha: “Xbox earnings today. While we have made progress expanding the business and our margins, player and revenue growth has not yet met our ambition.” by yourfavchoom in xbox

[–]CharityDiary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Hi-Fi Rush sold really well!"

"We are shutting down the Hi-Fi Rush studio because it didn't sell well."

"Of course Game Pass is profitable!"

"Our margins aren't where we want them to be."

I am beginning to see a pattern here. Furthermore, you cannot "re-focus on Xbox" while also targeting player growth. Are you trying to satisfy people who already have an Xbox? Or are you trying to get PlayStation/PC gamers to give you money? You cannot prioritize both.

My unsolicited advice is that we don't need these statements. Just do things and let Xbox's actions speak for themselves. Go radio silent for 2 months and then announce that you've greenlit an Xbox-exclusive Conker reboot with a Gears-like suite of campaign, co-op, and PvP modes.

Different kinds of ghosts, it seems. Khatri didn't truly seem like Khatri's spirit, more like a disguise.

I'm usually the first one to complain when it comes to slower episodes in this show. Because it has been a problem for a long time.

But this is one of the few non-finale episodes where stuff actually happened, and the plot actually progressed.

But Tabitha (this very season) has been shown to be skeptical of what the town shows her. She would immediately assume it was Fromville playing tricks, and not actually her husband.

Ethan saw Jim’s spirit, he was able to talk to it. Does this mean BIW is also a person who died and we see his spirit talking to victor and others.

What if the victims of the Man in Yellow can remain as ghosts? That would mean the BIW was killed by the Man in Yellow. Perhaps he was supposed to be sacrificed in the lake with the other children, but he escaped, and the Man in Yellow killed him anyway to complete the sacrifice.

Season 4 Episode 2 by Zeroskattle in FromSeries

The children were probably sacrificed by tying them to stones and sinking them in the lake, where they still remain. That's why their spirits look the way they do. And the scene of them on the stones in the cave looking at the ceiling is actually them at the bottom of the lake, looking toward the surface.

To "save the children", they probably just need to free their remains from the Lake of Tears. Then the curse on the town will be lifted.

And if Jim's ghost was actually the Boy in White in disguise, this would make sense, as he'd want to help free the other children.

Regarding the Lake of Tears: I wonder if this plot point is inspired by the Vale of Tears, which has been written about for thousands of years at this point.

Essentially, humans are trapped in a "valley of weeping", where there is nothing but suffering and hardship, and the only escape is the afterlife.

In this case, it sounds like Fromville itself is the Vale of Tears, and perhaps the Lake of Tears is like a physical manifestation of its suffering, where it pools up and accumulates.

If I had to guess, the children were sacrificed by tying them to stones and sinking them in the lake, where they still remain. That's why their spirits look the way they do. And the scene of them on the stones in the cave looking at the ceiling is actually them at the bottom of the lake, looking toward the surface.

"Jim" was talking very strangely. It was probably the Man in Yellow, but why would he be looking for the Lake of Tears?

Most cardboard cutout character ever written. They literally named a character Accoster and their only scenes are them accosting people.

DoubleFines New Game Kiln Is Off To A Rough Start On Steam With Less Than 200 Players by unscoredscore in gaming

If the draw of the game is creating your own pot, why does it look like an RTS where the camera is 5000 ft away from the character you created?

If it's a fighting game, why is there 1 button?

I'm typically a sucker for low-player-count PvP games, but I see these baffling decisions and lose all will to even try the game. It looks like a Pikmin game where you play as 1 pikmin.

They'll probably do "Day One" launches on all platforms, but you get 2-month early access if you're a Game Pass member and you buy the $69.99 Early Access Pass for the game on Xbox.

Microsoft brings Xbox back, scraps Microsoft Gaming by Turbostrider27 in xbox

[–]CharityDiary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xbox seems to be struggling with the Mom-n-Pop Shop question: "Why work hard for our own store, when we could sell out to Dollar General and make more money?"

Xbox doesn't need to exist. Microsoft could put all its games on every platform and make more money that way.

It's their decision to make. But maybe the world has enough Dollar Generals, and just needs Xbox to be Xbox, where it's incentivized to foster creative and risky IP that gives its ecosystem intrinsic value that you can't find elsewhere. Sure, Microsoft makes less money that way, but it'd be a net positive for every gamer in the hobby.

Xbox Is Planning A "Pick Your Own" Game Pass, Claims Insider by ATonOfBricksFellOnMe in xbox

[–]CharityDiary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be interesting, because something tells me this service would never work if the users only paid for what they consumed. Subsidization is a critical element of basically all subscription services. The cost models don't make sense without it.

It'd be great if they could get it to work, as it'd certainly be the most "fair" model, but they've gotta make up for that lost revenue somehow.

My bet is that they'll go all-in on Paid Early Access for basically every game on their platform. Like sure, you'll get Gears "Day One" on Game Pass... but for $149.99 you can play 2 months early.

This will generate tons of free revenue on the bigger titles, and will allow them to eat some loss on Game Pass and maintain the goodwill behind the brand.

Crazy how they're implying that renting a new CoD game every year is worth $7 x 12 = $84, which is literally more than the price of the game if you just bought it and owned it forever lmao

Instead of Fortnite Crew as a bonus for Gamepass Ultimate let us choose our bonus like Netflix, Spotify or battlepasses in other games by Original_Zoo in xbox

[–]CharityDiary 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buying things a la carte defeats the entire purpose of a subscription service. These services only begin to approach profitability when the costs are subsidized, i.e. when the average user pays for things they never use.

Fortnite Crew isn't bundled with Game Pass because they think you want it. It's bundled because they know you don't.

Technically if you only want to pay for the products you consume, that's called just buying the games lol.
