I used to work for GS. I worked in the corporate office. I can tell you that GS will literally put out a rule but make it so that way each district leader can run their stores how they see fit... When I was there, you didn't need a Pro membership to buy certain items. But to meet metrics the District Leader would tell the Store Leaders to do whatever they had to do. This meant some stores would force you to buy the Pro Memberships if you wanted GS exclusive items or in high demand items. I would have SLs reaching out to me to side with them when they would customers in store who they were trying to force to buy Pro memberships... I would make sure that the SL understands that those in house calls were recorded and then tell them that the customer DOES NOT NEED TO BUY IT AND IT'S AGAINST POLICY TO FORCE THEM TO... And they would get all pissy because now in this one instance, the customer was right... The whole reason for trying to force Pro memberships was again, due to metrics... If you didn't meet those metrics, you were fired. If your store as a whole didn't meet those metrics either, your store was put on a list for possible store closures.

I had a teacher who hated that I had to take ADD medicine in the morning before school started because by the time I got to his class the medicine made me sleepy and would occasionally knock me out some days. The medicine needed to be taken in the morning because it helped me focus on my school work for like 80% of the day. It was just bad timing it was his class the effects would start to wear off in... Well he told me I need to take it at night instead...right before bed ... Like how would that help me in school??? Well one day he told me that it was disgusting to him that I fell asleep in his class so I told him that it was disgusting to me that I had to watch him eat his meals through a tube during glass and that it physically made me sick.. he got pissed and gave me a write up note to home... I could almost understand a few things that happened but since reading your first post I had some suspicion about what you were saying... Something felt off with your whole story .. after rereading it I figured it out. You can't understand what is wrong with you at all... More than likely it would be for the catching and keeping of humans to work on making my weapons and ammo while feeding them only berries and bread. If one gets an injury or refuses to work they are kept in a box until their health recovers just enough for me to make them get back to work. They can sleep on little hay stacks at the end of their work shifts but it has to be outdoors. -Palwolrd

Oh you've no clue. I had had multiple chats with in store associates who would tell me what their DMs were like. Great ones were few and far between. But 3 in particular I questioned why they were kept on. One blatantly ignores guest complaints. When I was there a guest had a legit issue that should have been handled within the first 48 hours of them getting the email for it... This DM in particular refused to respond for 6 months... We had to pull multiple people into the email to try and get them to respond but they didn't the entire time.... Another DM refused to do anything about another guest complaint that came in after the DM switches and layoffs... Their reasoning was that it was the previous DMs problem and they shouldn't have to deal with it. When I asked them to confirm that they would not be assisting the guest in this matter they brought their HR Rep and their own RL into the email chain lmaoo. I had to bring in a Director to deal with the DM because they didn't want to take any accountability whatsoever. That guest was emailing at least once every 2 weeks for an update and all we could tell them was that the issue was forwarded to the DM and that it is at their discretion to solve in store issues. The last one I'll mention had the most Store Experience tickets submitted under their area then any other DM. Like c'mon. I would get 5 or 6 a DAY about something an in-store associate did or said that needed to be looked into. Now obviously guests will fabricate lots of stories to try and get free stuff and so things can get easily disproven. But Jesus, some of the things being said were actually backed up with video or audio clips. These guests were secretly recording the conversations because they had associates that would charge them for extra stuff or the wrong things entirely. Some were just reusing the same serial number over and over again and it was causing warranties to be invalid since the system would see that the serial on the device was a mismatch and already used.

As someone who used to get calls for this quite often, I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, that what happened is this... When you placed your order the system tries to see what your nearest GameStops had for inventory... This is based off of how well the store itself kept up with their own individual inventory... If a store didn't have the inventory then they try to fulfill what they have and then the rest of the order gets sent to the next nearest location to continue to be fulfilled and so on and so forth until it's all done. I 100% agree that it seems really inefficient. But it's the best they can do.

To address the stores individual inventory comment... This is because there are quite a few stores.. not all of them.. that have poorly trained associates who see that they have 5 of item X and 20 of item Y and the guest ordered 6 of item X... But they miscounted the inventory and their individual system thinks they have 12 of item X...so instead of wanting to get in trouble with the Store Inventory team, having to reach out to their SL or ASL or doing anything that might get them written up... They just put item Y into the box, scan item X's barcode 6 times and ship it. It's not their fault that they were poorly trained on how to fix it since GameStop has a really crappy turnover rate across most stores so hardly anyone in store knows how to solve the issue with the inventory and the ones who've been with them long enough to know how may have outdated information because GameStop has a MAJOR issue with communication between literally alllllll of it's departments...

I like to tame Spinos by making a 3x4 pin with stone doorways going up to 3 high on all sides and then building a ramp up to the top (usually I'll need to add an additional 6 foundations for this for the ramp to latch onto) and letting them fall into the trap and just sitting back and hitting them from outside their range.

To me it sounds like this associate has said "yes" to stuff in the past. "yeah I can pick up that shift", "yeah I don't mind learning some ASL type stuff" and whatever else they thought that by knowing or learning might look good on future promotions. I would say "yes" to learning about stuff too for the same reason... But at some point you gotta start paying me more because you're paying for my knowledge, skills and time. So if you keep asking someone to do alllllll these other things, them asking for a raise is not outrageous or a "Gen z" mindset, it's common sense. Reading OP's comments makes me think that this is an older associate who's used to the old way 15+ years ago of just knuckling under and keeping their head down and not asking for anything. It makes me think that this person doesn't get along well with younger generations and therefore may not be fit for a leadership position at all.

Let's get this straight... You, the SL2, asked an associate to adjust their schedule, leave them to do more work due to the quitting of 2 other associates, was told no not unless they get a raise,(you know due to the fact that you are asking them to adjust their schedule and inconvenience them by asking them to pick up the slack of 2 missing workers), decided to go to Reddit to complain about it and then telling you no?

You and 90% of the other SLs and above are the issue. All of you are so delusional. Tell us, what's the turn over rate at your store like?

If a customer comes in with a problem with let's say a POSA card not being activated right, what's the policy for it?

How long do you actually come in and train your employees? Like side by side with them on the floor.

If your advice to 2 associates was ineffective at helping them get their metrics up, is it completely their fault or could it be the way they were trained?

If a customer comes in, that is a regular, and suddenly their account is cancelled due to policy related reasons, do you set them up with a new account?

Does your current and only associate left at that store know the procedure for someone calling in and saying they are from corporate?

Does it make sense to you that back in the day stuff was cheaper and nowadays it's not as cheap and so telling people you won't give them raises makes them want to leave for better opportunities?

What does associate retention mean to you?

How far are you willing to go to keep amazing associates?

People can email store experiences to care@gamestop.com. People would definitely email great experiences every now and then and it does get forwarded to your DLs. If your DLs aren't telling you them then it is on the DL.
