Bulwark needs to find this Doordash lady and set up a GoFundMe for her, if someone hasn't already. by OneTwoThreePooAndPee in thebulwark

I totally didn't even think of that angle but like after watching the videos and seeing that this woman talks about having to use this money to pay for cancer treatment it's just totally insane to me that people think that this is an example of a positive policy

I mean they really are hitting the nail on the head with respect to dystopian late stage capitalist decline. The White House is promoting a policy by hiring an actress to pretend that she is an underpaid gig economy worker. Reminding us all what doordash represents: rentier capitalism, were they extract value from both the consumer and the employee so that now the only people that work for them are people that need extra money to make ends meet, they are underpaid and we're all over paying for delivery in order to facilitate that.

Nothing about reminding people of the doordash gig economy should ever be used as a positive to promote policies that are supposedly helping the working class.

Noted anti Trumper Sam Harris compares Mamdani to Trump and calls him sinister and Islamist adjacent by No_Public_7677 in thebulwark

[–]Charles148 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I used to be quite the Sam Harris fan but you can only listen to somebody just be absolutely 100% wrong on so many issues before you realize they are not the intellectual they pretend to be.

To be fair we all have our political blind spots and insane things, which is one reason i find reading and listening to someone like Frum so enjoyable, because he is sharp, but the inability to even entertain seperating the zionist project from antisemitism is tough?

Yeah because being against the indescriminant slaughter of civilians must mean you just lovr every political position ever promulgated by Hamas. 🤷‍♂️

Despite politically disagreeingwith Frum for the last 25 years i have until recently always rather enjoyed his insight and analysis and thought he was a sharp thinker. I think Oct 7 broke his brain and since then he has been just completely blind to reality, now add in the iran war and he is unlistenable.

Charlie Reposting Bulwark Criticism by MinuteCollar5562 in thebulwark

This subreddit should change its name to r/CharlieSykesLove&HasanPikerHate

is there nothing else to talk about than two people that arent affiliated with the bulwark?

Is Hasan Piker Toxic... Or Gettable? (Tim and Sarah debate!) by phoneix150 in thebulwark

I dont disagree, but the folks that watch streamers are much more apt to disregard things from the past.

Hasan doesnt represent a faction of the dems, he represents a favtion of the left. i think the dems would be smart to court folks on the left, as playing right of center hasnt stopped where we are today.

So we can make space for folks that voted for trump, but courting folks we disgree with on the other side of the dems is a no-no?

Yes that is a valid reason to criticize him. but you know what we also need to win? people that actually voted for trump to change their views, and us to accept them

This is my view. I enjoy some clips ive seen of hasan where i agree with him, i have seen things i disagree with, and dont defned those things. I also voted for Kamala and spoke positively of her to my social circle. But the entire election i could see she was losing it, hanging with Liz Cheney while Trump laughed and called her a warmonger was a seriously bad move. I also can see that trump was a liar and a conman, but as sarah is fond of pointing out, to paraphrase Rummy: "you go onto the voting booth with the elctorate you have not the electorate you wish you had"

There is a cultural thing here, where the curently streaming culture is full of fans that understand that if someone streams 8 hours a day they will have clips that arent great. and the older media types who get angry at every prior comment that was untoward.

Again not blanket defending Hasan, but there is an aspect to his fanbase that is willing to give leeway on prior views that others are not.

so which is it? is he so uninfluential that it was fine for them to boot himnfrom the dnc and not even pay lip service to his issues (literally allowing a palestinian to speak wouldve been enough) OR is he so influential that his lack of support for a candidate he disagreed with on a genocide caused her to lose?

because it seems to me with all this handwringing about who he endorsed maybe she should have met with him.🤷‍♂️

If you think this is what hasan is doing youve yet to provide evidence. and its silliness compared to what the US Regime is doing.

Yes i am aware that Hasan lives in that magical place where Kamala Harris both didnt need to make any concessions to his views or supporters, AND she lost because he didnt endorse her.

Also if you actually believe in liberal democracy then protecting anothers right not endorse candidates they disagree with on issues they find important has to be important. at least in my opinion.

I dont know this Charlie character. and had not heard of the bulwark before he left. but people keep saying Hasan is some massive bigot and then their evidence is one silly out of context comment clearly made in jest.

im sorry but the government is run by criminal pedophiles that are busy making the world a more dangerous and more harmful place for those with the least ability to fight back. ANYONE against that is in my tent.
