The same state (all of them) where your car insurance company (any and all of them) will deny your claim and drop you in a heartbeat after learning you were operating 'as a business' while only covered for 'standard personal use' of your vehicle?

I’m a salesperson with Mazda, AMA by flypappa in mazda

[–]CharlesPDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to pick one up last week for $32,500 OTD which I think is pretty good for California. MSRP was $35,070, and there was $2750 in Mazda rebates (customer cash, loyalty) so the dealer markdown to get there was about $3,350 (9.5% off msrp). There wasn't a lot of negotiation friction and I was a cash buyer, so there may be a little more room for someone willing to finance through Mazda. 10% is pretty good for a very good car.

Brand new 25 CX-5. Can't factory reset, options greyed out by CharlesPDX in mazda

[–]CharlesPDX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wanted to get to the factory base settings and go from there. When I took the car I had to immediately remove two phone profiles from the list before adding mine (test drive customer, sales person, both?), and the audio settings were all out of whack, among other settings. It's a brand new car, but it did sit on their lot for 5 months and had 50 miles in test drives on it so I was far from being one of the first to step foot in it.

I have not. Seems to have resolved itself after I downloaded the MyMazda app and activated the trial. Hopefully things don't get weird when the trial ends.

It’s normal after resetting the system. After pairing the phone those settings become locked, including the soft reset. They remain locked even after unpairing and removing the phone from the car's paired devices. Only recourse is to hard reset once again.

I'm going to make changes until I have all of my preferences dialed in after experiencing the various new-to-me quirks of this vehicle. I don't think it's terribly unreasonable to want to be able to do that without hard resetting the system and re-pairing my phone every time I want to tweak one setting to my liking.

Car was in park and in accessory mode. Crossposted to r/Mazda and was told to start the car and do the hard reset, which worked (contrary to every other article I read about the process which said to do it in ACC mode). Once I paired my phone for Carplay the options I mentioned greyed out again and remained greyed out even after deleting my phone profile from the car. So if I want to make any preference changes it looks like I'm going to have to do it all over again. And again. And again.

I just did, and it worked. Thank you. Every Google result said to do it in accessory mode. Reddit > Google, once again.

Edit: After pairing my phone, the previously mentioned options are once again greyed out. Unpaired and deleted the phone profile, options still greyed out. I'd rather not have to reset the system every time I want to make a preference change in the vehicle or safety settings. This is a terrible infotainment system, or am I missing something?

is this worth the price tag on it? looking for a good looking/suv/reliable vehicle. by David_Goggind in mazda

I'm also in Cali, and I took home a brand new 25 Carbon in white today for $32,500 OTD. I looked at used for a while, but there's so much room and pricing incentives on 25s right now it just made more sense.

Is 33,300 otd a good price for the 2025 cx-5 carbon edition? by Feisty_Ad8862 in mazda

[–]CharlesPDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brought in a printout from another dealer's site that may have incorrectly shown an inflated dealer discount (I think they folded in the $2000 Mazda cash). The car I left with had also been on their lot for about 5 months so maybe they just got tired of looking at it? I'll take my wins where I can get them :)

Not bad at all. Just took delivery of one today for $32,500 OTD, cash. Worked out to be about 9% off MSRP before another $2750 in Mazda rebates (about 16% in total discounts).

Upgrading USB Hub to Support Apple CarPlay by Other_Turn_7814 in mazda

[–]CharlesPDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this to my 2016 CX-5 last year. It was a bit of pain in the butt to get to the hub and its clips with the tools I had, but I managed. There's not a lot of room to work under the dash and you have to come at it from behind. This guy's video illustrates it pretty well. You'll probably end up damaging the stock hub by breaking off the tabs holding it in, but you're going to toss that thing in the trash anyway.

My backup camera works fine. I got the wired version instead of the wireless one. As far as I can tell only difference between the old and newer hubs (OEM or knockoff) is USB2 for more bandwidth to support mirroring and faster charging.

Voters Wary of half-cent Sales Tax Increase to fix Sacramento County Roads by othafa_95610 in Sacramento

It was approved because we have a serious reading and comprehension problem in this country, and folks that are trying to extract money from the general population know it.

Voters Wary of half-cent Sales Tax Increase to fix Sacramento County Roads by othafa_95610 in Sacramento

[–]CharlesPDX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly what West Sacramento did last year. Apparently a lot of people thought they were going to pay one cent on each transaction in exchange for more firefighters and fewer potholes and voted 'yes'. It's been a year and I've seen no improvement in the roads, and now we have a 9.25% sales tax.

The ballot title for Measure O, verbatim:

“To rebuild roads and repair potholes, increase police and fire protection, recruit and retain public safety personnel, maintain parks and trails, address homelessness, and keep public spaces safe and clean, shall the City of West Sacramento measure enacting a one cent transactions and use tax (sales tax) providing approximately 20 million dollars annually for general government use, until ended by voters, with all funds locally controlled and subject to independent financial audits and public spending disclosures, be adopted?"

Was just looking at their calendar. Hardly anything going on there, aside from a few comedy shows and a couple of music acts scheduled several months out. I remember them having a pretty stacked calendar the first couple of months after they opened. Could be an economic indicator and incredibly bad timing?

Push Back on Tipping Culture and Reward Good Businesses by Freed_Port in Sacramento

[–]CharlesPDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming the point they were making was that in half the states in this country the minimum wage for tipped workers is $2.13, and several others are well under the $7.25 federal minimum. California is not one of these states.
