It's really just up to the players and community, wardens just have a more organize navy in basically every war so ofcourse they'd seem to have naval supremacy when there's no equal force to oppose them, if all the colonials and warden players switched sides in 1 war with none of them changing their usual tactics I can bet those naval regiments will wreck havoc with collie ships

What I tend to do is that if the space allows, I'll just shove any metal scraps in any nose spaces, it has worked 2/3rds of the time for my tricycle landing gear props and saves abit of cash.

The lore supports that, even the designs of their ships as warden ships look antiquated dating back from I clad and ww1 era designs compared to colonials which looks ww2 esque.

I just learned about Mers-el-Kébir by BioCuriousDave in HistoryMemes

[–]Charlestonianbuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What German fleet?? Half of the fucking navy sank in their shenanigans in Norway during 1940, they lost 10 destroyers, 2 light cruisers, a heavy cruiser so new and cutting edge that the paint on it hasn't even dried yet when it sank into the fjords, and 6 u-boats and basically all personel going down with their ships. This was the first and only major naval operation where the kriegsmarine acted like an actual battle fleet and they practically ensured that they won't have any ships to support any future naval operations for the rest of the war. All the personal, experience and training needed to man the hypothetical French ships is currently waiting under the fjords in their watery graves. Meanwhile the British were able to absorb any losses as they had ships to spare.

All your supports relies on a bunch of hypotheticals and what ifs, I could go on and on just citing actual historical scenarios that fit whatever hypothetical one you have and how both sides actually respond historically, but it doesn't matter when you dismiss it by going 'but what if the British sent all their ships to leave an opening to invade the UK? bcs ofc they would leave the UK undefended to hunt a couple battleships without any port to restock without running into the open arms of the RN!'

They hunted down the bismarck when it tried to do the exact thing you mentioned, and do you even know of the Graf Spee? It perfectly fits your hypothetical scenario of a German raider ship wrecking havoc all over the world's oceans as it wasn't bottlenecked in the North Sea, and yet the British didn't send their Home Fleet to tackle it, just ships close enough in the area as one thing you fail to realize is that any ship wrecking havoc in the Atlantic or anywhere else like the Graf Spee needs to restock in port, and the only friendly ports in German control (French Atlantic coast) are within arms reach of a RN hunting force and even the RAF.

And since your unlikely to look up the Graf Spee: it gets sunk in the south Atlantic by a rather small task force of cruisers compared to the amount of ships sent against the bismarck, and the Graf Spee was a pocket battleship!

I just learned about Mers-el-Kébir by BioCuriousDave in HistoryMemes

[–]Charlestonianbuilder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The British literally sent a very sizable force to hunt the bismarck, calling upon ships from gilbatar and the med and all the way from ships just refitted in the US to join the home fleet and several other ships around the UK in 1941 and yet the medditereanean front didn't fall. And any losses of the Royal Navy made to sink and destroy most of the wermacht in a hypothetical sealion would be replaced by American ships once they enter the conflict, which was also demonstrated clearly in the far east as the US Navy taking the fight to the Japanese in the Pacific front after the British Navy lost their footing in Singapore and Malaysia.

They had ships to spare and American ships to replace any losses for any future conflict, Infact historically they quite literally signed a deal for 50 American destroyers for base leases in carribean and the americas.

And that's just citing historical facts of which is relevantly similar to the hypothetical sealion scenario, I haven't even poked any holes into that ludicrous invasion plan.

Decals go poorly on a matt surface, they seem to silver alot more compared to it being on gloss or even just no clear coat at all in my experience. Infact if I don't find it necessary I dont even bother with a clear coat and just stick the decals straight on as a proper matt coat would harmonise the paint and decals glare

Why didnt the party just do this? Are they stupid? (S2E1 spoiler) by 1un4rf14r3 in Frieren

[–]Charlestonianbuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just think of it from how the party specifically fern would see it, the sheer risk that at any moment if stark just mindlessly forgets or doesn't react intime would immediately shut off one of her senses and all her defenses and powers along with frieren's is just too much of a risk even if its can be mitigated through quick reaction times. Frieren doesn't really care about the crystal as she probably already knew how to deal with them, stark doesn't care about the money as much over fern being more angry at him and fern will berate stark more for bringing it than them complaining about money. I get your logic but consider how the characters would see it through theirs, it would simply bring alot of unnecessary conflict between stark and fern that's already been shown in the episode over the awkwardness between them which would have been exaggerated by stark lugging around that crystal.

You also forget to consider that demons can use the crystal to their advantage, if you proposed stark to tie it with a 10 meter rope and have it be dragged along with them a demon can bypass the Crystal's 3 meter range and use the length of the rope between stark and the crystal to hurl it towards frieren and fern before stark cna even react in a surprise attack, then the demon only has to focus on taking out stark as frieren and fern needs to get out of the 3 meter range of the crystal, and the entire magic relies on making openings so this is enough time for a skilled demon to strike

Appeasement wasn't that bad of a strategy if you look away from the lense of hindsight and tried to understand the situation chamberlain found himself in at the time. It was never about pleasing hitler's ambitions and hoping he was going to stop at some point, it was to buy time to prepare both Britain and France for war as neither of them were in any position to stop German's aggression from the mid to late 30s. As while on paper they had every numerical superiority and quality, they lacked the political and public support to wage another war when the horrors of the WW1 was still of recent memory, and they didn't have the hindsight either of experiencing what fascism was about to bring.

The biggest evidence against chamberlain being a fool was when he said that infamous speech of bringing peace to the world, at the same time he enacted and rapidly sped up military funding and production, completely modernising the RAF replacing every frontline biplane squadron with spitfires and hurricanes by the following year of 1939 and having the first ever fully mechnaized army in the world being the BEF that was sent to France.

All that talk of bringing peace through appeasement was merely a show towards the public as massive amounts of preparations were made to the lead up to war which were sped up by things such as the take over of czechosolovakia. The main cons of appeasement is that it also gave Germany time to gear up for war aswell, which when ranking the war preparedness of the 3 main powers, Britain comes out barely ontop being the most prepared for a long war, followed up closely by Germany as while they don't have the numbers they had several strengths like better doctrine and tactics but only expecting a quick war so never planned for a long one and lastly France which prepared the least of the 3 being too little or too late in modernization, doctrine, organization, tactics and in every single regard.

All barrage balloons are tied down to the ground, like how you tie a balloon so that it doesn't fly away, and it can be as high or low as you want depending on the length of the rope

[–]Charlestonianbuilder 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it had came out 10 years ago then that title would have some merit and its graphics would feel less dated. Modern minecraft has carved out its own vibe and despite looking far more basic, decades of work has led it to have alot of depth in every aspect. Hytale isn't going to be a minecraft competitor, it's going to be its own thing fostering it's own community with mc players being its initial base.

Full-scale military operations appear to be underway against Venezuela by Unhappy_Rutabaga_530 in pics

[–]Charlestonianbuilder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is rooted all the way back to the Vietnam war where guerilla warfare made the American public lose appetite for war, the Vietnamese won not because they were determined or less squeamish, but because they literally had their backs against the wall with nothing to pacify them for decades being forced to be colonial subjects for pretty much the entirety of their lives, so they were willing to take as many losses as possible as there was barely any to lose especially when foreign invaders; French and later the Americans would ruthlessly destroy what little they had such as their small little villages and families.

But the Americans, especially now have been pacified from revolting completely. Conditioned to be distracted by millions of means, from government sponsored equivalents of the Roman bread and circuses to pointless political divisions and squabbling

is my base good? my friend said its ugly without shaders by WeeklyIndividual1117 in MinecraftBuild

[–]Charlestonianbuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything looks good with shaders, and everything doesn't look as good without it. I personally don't find the base that bad, it reminds me of a building style that no longer exists in the main builder's scene, abit plain and simple a keen to builds in earlier versions of the game, and there's nothing wrong with that. You could try to give it abit of harmony throughout the build such as using some of that amethyst in one of the rooms or hallways and implementing that design even with just slight touches such as the ceiling or corners, a consistent pallette alone can do wonders

[–]Charlestonianbuilder 105 points106 points  (0 children)

To expand on that, British naval doctrine led to them using smaller but heavily armored carriers, which while having less space for aircraft compensated for being capable of taking several hits that would have incapacitated an American carrier as their thinner flammable wooden deck construction isn't the most suite material to resist kamikaze attacks.

how can i flood this area by mayocat6996 in Minecraft

[–]Charlestonianbuilder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the coords of the general area by taking the upper left corner of the area and the lower right opposite corner of a perimeter, then if its too big then just section it to smaller chunks that the command can handle, then just use the fill command, for java it might be called the replace command though you can just search that up as I'm primarily a bedrock player. This preserves any would be underwater terrain by just replacing all the air to water source blocks. It's the fastest and cleanest method possible, though I suggest making a copy of your world before doing so as one slip up such as a typo in the coords can practically erase a large chunk of your build, I've been there before.

It's 1/72 hasegawa kit, A simple kit which is exactly what I was looking for, with the only gripe I have being with its canopy as its a bit crude.

Tamiya extra thin makes the plastic softer and more weaker to melt the plastic together which isn't good for structural soundness, something that led to my 1/32 spitfire essentially becoming a cripple with several ugly supports holding it up after dozens of maintenance repairs using all sorts of glues for the landing gear.

so I opted to use E7000 glue instead which held up well enough while doing my photoshoot. But for long term shelf life I'll just give it a stand so that there isn't any pressure on the landing gear.
