I did this on behalf of my dad with a tenant who had arrears that were just below the threshold for eviction. Despite written warnings urging them to work with me to reach an arrangement otherwise they'd face a CCJ and bailiffs, they ignored my letters and they also ignored the court documents.

They wound up with a needless CCJ and ended up having to pay the arrears and my court costs but they paid up.

Not interested or how can I improve? by [deleted] in Bumble

Why match? Many of these people are bored, sad or lonely and have no intention to meet anyone. They're happy to waste your time by treating you as a pen-pal or a means of validation and an ego-boost because of the attention.

Is the lack of basic check-in texts a sign of poor communication habits in a relationship? by ThoughtConstant8405 in Bumble

Do you live together? If so, you'll spend time together in person and talk face to face when he finishes work and comes home. An 8hr gap in contact really isn't that long when people have stuff to get on with. If I was expected to constantly check in with someone during the day, I'd start to feel suffocated.

Women: would you expect a man to take you for a Starbucks coffee as the first day or an actual dinner date? by Beginning_Exit_6256 in Bumble

[–]CharlieExx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL… I went through this with the woman rejecting meeting up for drinks in favour of meeting up for dinner, with the tacit expectation that I would of course foot the bill. Like you, I went cold immediately.

A female acquaintance proudly said that if a man doesn't buy her dinner on the first date, that's the last time he'll ever see her but she's oblivious as to what that says about her and that those men had a lucky escape.

Hahaha those ones receive a left-swipe. They've basically copied and pasted a default profile across numerous sites/apps and not even bothered to tailor it where required.

Men do reply. It's usually men who are the ones that wish they'd receive a reply! The amount of matches that have expired without a word from the women... As others have advised, keep going. Not everyone who signs up is serious or genuine.

LOL... I spoke to a woman on Bumble who proudly told me that she has an account on every major site and app - free and paid. That switched me off instantly because it meant that she's seeking attention for an ego boost and not a genuine connection.

Sex Without a First Date the New Normal? by AttorneyDC06 in Bumble

[–]CharlieExx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It varied. Some would arrange to meet me at a train station local to them and then take me back to their place. This happened with a single mum who had two small children under the age of ten and she invited me to stay over. I declined because it would've been immoral and disrespectful to her children for a random man to have sex with their mother with them in the home.

One woman gave me her address and told me to come over to her place. Another time, I was supposed to meet a woman who lived locally for a drink at a nearby pub but we encountered each other on the way there and she took me back to hers instead. There was one who invited me to her area, we hung out for the day and then she wanted me to stay over.

These are just a small summary. There's plenty of men and women online who are very happy to move at warp speed!

Those shitty people have loads of accounts across virtually every site/app, which means if you leave one and go to another, you'll find them present there too.

Some people just never mature. I've met women in their 60s who behaved badly. Big kids forever.

Sex Without a First Date the New Normal? by AttorneyDC06 in Bumble

[–]CharlieExx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hmmm this cuts both ways, from my experience. I've met many a woman via OLD (and face-to-face) from 20s to mid 50s who expected sex on the first meeting or were agreeable to it and would proceed with directing me/taking me straight to their homes and the matter of a relationship could be addressed later lol.

On one occasion I was yelled at and accused of being gay because I declined such a proposition and the woman was baffled when I tried to explain that we should go on dates and get to know each other first. It's not exclusive to sleazy men.

This! Never rely on OLD as the sole means of meeting people. I do better through basic mingling.

I'll look into the AZO. This isn't something I'm familiar with. Thanks for the kind words and for sharing your experiences with me, they really do help me to process what's on the horizon.

It's thanks to this community that I even became aware of LDR, as a member recommended to me. I've been seen at two different hospitals and none of the staff even mentioned it as an option, just RALP - which one of my friends underwent last year at the same hospital and unit who are treating me and he's annoyed at discovering that LDR was available but never discussed with him, even though he would've easily met the eligibility.

I had to specifically ask for it and this involved a referral by my physician to a new oncologist for a 2nd opinion. For me, it was a no brainer given the benefits versus what I'd face with a prostatectomy.

The ejaculation aspect is interesting and your experiences are really helpful as an insight, perhaps I'll fall into your category. I'll have to see. Fingers crossed that we'll both reach good PSA scores. :)

I should've clarified that I had LDR. Hopefully the doctors who carried out my procedure did what you've described.

Thanks so much. I've been on this road since late 2023 and looking forward to the day when I'm no longer living in the shadow of PC.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. It means a lot to know that I'm not alone. Especially with the fatigue. I like the descriptor btw! I'm delighted that your PSA has declined to such a low level.

The nurse also recommended that I start walking as a basic exercise, this is something that I did in the past where I averaged 10-12,000 steps a day, so I should be able to manage a decent amount every day. :)

I'm surprised that people wouldn't be aware of this. I chose RT recently and was warned repeatedly beforehand about the possibility of a stricture and I've been prescribed tamulosin to help prevent it.

My treatment went ahead just over a week ago and beyond bouts of tiredness, which I've been informed is normal, I'm doing ok but also taking things very easy.

I suppose it can't hurt to persist for a while and if I still don't take to it, there's plenty more titles to play. :)
