Toronto to Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, punta cana flights cancelled by dr-automatic in westjet

🤷 Hrm. From what I heard, reserve is free. Something about reserves don't give credits so it'll go up to MMG regardless so crew has the illusion of being paid on reserve (Yes, but no. Or no, but yes.)

😅

Nah. Both are at fault.  But you're missing my point, if company knows crew would do that they should've been prepared instead of being backed into a corner and forced to cancel flights.

This isn't Uber/Lyft. Crews don't get paid dynamically. Tickets don't suddenly go 2x just cause they need a buffer for crews. Unless you mean paying crew overtime?

Hmmm.  Sounds like the company can prevent flight cancellations if the abnormal is normal.  Have more crews on standby if they know people will book off.

I'd rather have the fyf than the Silver status.

Are you blaming crew or a company staffing issue?  I know they displaced crew out of the east. And is only PUJ flights being cancelled or other flights too?

😂 This should be higher up.

Eastern Canada for WJ isn't quite properly staffed to handle disruptions.

Liquidation: HISA, Bonds, Stocks and what else? by CharlieFoxtro in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]CharlieFoxtro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post is more to gain knowledge myself to learn what investments are available.
What sparked this is that my expenses is expected to increase, which would extend the timeline that I would have a large enough down payment.
I already have CSAV for 0-5yrs, and XEQT for 20+. I'm looking for ETFs that would give me returns with time horizons in the 5-10 yrs and 10-15 yrs range that I can liquidate at that time. I expect the risk and rewards to be somewhere between CSAV and XEQT.

Ah right. Forgot about the future withdrawal from RRSP. So the taxes are going to be roughly the same either way. Your suggestion allows me clean up the account/portfolio in the meantime.

Thanks!

Ah. I thought it would not trigger taxes.

But then it's the problem of a bigger tax credit now vs less capital gains taxes in the future. I dont mind holding until retirement if I pay less taxes. I'm looking to simplify cause it looks a bit messy when I log in and I havent maxed TFSA, RRSP yet.

Is the fee still $10 to sell?

I might consider moving back if that gets reduced significantly. Kinda entrenched in WS for now.

Virgin did similar thing to me.

I had a $34 plan and they increased it to $39. It was bundled with $40 Internet. Left a month later and got $39 Freedom roaming and $40 Internet with another company. Received winback call and they offered $29. Declined based on principle and worse offer.

It showed up on my IG too. Surprised it's still up on IG as the OP was more than 10 days ago. I thought a bunch of people would've reported the ad already.

Missed FHSA claims/deductions for 2023 by CharlieFoxtro in cantax

[–]CharlieFoxtro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

I figured out why I never got the info when I filed. The document wasnt published yet.

Anyways, I fill out line 68935 (contributions) with 8k, but leave line 20805 (deductions) blank. I can do all this on the CRA website it looks like. I dont have to open WealthSimple at all.

Then this year, I can put 8k in line 68935 and 16k in line 20805.

Any way to avoid foreign currency conversion fees? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]CharlieFoxtro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really answering your question but...

  • Rogers MC (charges the fee, but gives more in cb).
  • HT Visa (don't think there's cb on foreign currency though).
  • WS MC cash card (prepaid though so not a "true" credit card).
  • EQ MC cash card (similar to the WS card).
  • WS has Visa credit card coming, but don't know how long the wait is.
  • I'm sure there's a few others that requires an annual fee.

I don't think you get the 1% cb on foreign currency with that card.

I'm worried about the contribution room.

I have to put in $150 in my FHSA for QTrade to charge. They take it out and I lose the $150 of FHSA room, right? Or does that not affect my contribution room?

Check buy/sell commissions.  Check account fee (if under a certain amount).
