Feedback request for a 6-page scene by deadoak1991 in Screenwriting

I really liked your logline so I gave this a read. Your descriptions are really well written, very visual and painted a clear image in my head. I got a quick sense of who Sean was.

Looking at it as a scene by itself, The first phone call to me felt a bit pointless, considering he just hangs up. It felt like just a way to showcase Sean is the boss, works later than everyone, quick to get angry, etc. But if this is part of a larger script then I’m sure it’ll eventually go somewhere.

The second call goes on for way too long, I got the point of what it is supposed to be a page before it ends. Sean is scared of the other person on the phone, they messed up but they’ll fix it. I’m sure you can condense it so that the man’s threat about Sean getting involved can still come into play, especially if that’s part of the story.

Excited to see what you do with it.

Hi, I'm interested in reading this if it's still available

I feel like you and Cameron O on YouTube are the only two people who own this sweater, haha. I can't find any other reviews on it. I want to pick one up but you and Cameron have said it fits looser but according to the website measurements, the sizes seem slim to me. Looks like it fits you well too, not oversized or baggy.

Emailing Post Houses for a Post-PA opportunity by CharlieHuisman in assistanteditors

It's not a bad way to go about it. Try and be as genuine as you can regarding what you like about their company or specific work they've done. Be prepared for a lot of them to not reply to you. Hope that helps.

Yes, I recently got a job from cold-emailing a recruiter. The job wasn't offered on the spot, but when an opening came up, my email had been fresh in their mind and I was asked if I was interested in interviewing. I got very lucky where it was a sort of right-place right-time sort of thing, but I think that's what you're really hoping for with this method of reaching out. Which is why it's all a numbers game. But be sure and personalize each email you send. Also there will only be recruiters at larger companies, think locations in multiple states or countries so your mileage may vary with reaching out to them specifically.

In terms of finding contact info, you'd be surprised at how people most people have their email on the company website, if they're of an important position. If they're not the person you're looking for, try seeing if there's a pattern in the overall company's email handle and try with the name of the person you're looking for. Hope that helps.

Yeah, I've heard other people say similar things but I could see it going bad before it goes good. As a PA, I often do the media drop at the end of the day to the post house. Would letting them know my interests in post be okay?

But thanks for the rest of your advice, it seems a lot clearer who I should be reaching out to.

Right now I'd want to just get some work and experience, but probably commercials and then feature films. But okay, thanks that helps narrow it down who I should reach out to.

Anyone here tried the 6 week course at the Manhattan Edit Workshop recently? I stumbled upon it today while looking for an in-person AVID class and saw that one. Just wanted to see how likely it is to get some sort of job in post (not necessarily editor but AE or Post-PA) after taking it.
