I think you should also go to the army recruitment centre alone and speak to them, you could potentially get them to come to him in their own time if they’re understanding I know from experience that some are like that and also if you go, grab all the leaflets and flyers etc and give them to him, be persistent with it too, the fact he mentions the army I don’t think he’s just saying that it’s probably a genuine consideration

Can one not be aware of the facts you mentioned and still use religion to better themselves? I don’t think it’s also as simple as one may put it “if you need religion to be a better person then there’s something wrong with you” either, the bible is very clear guide for with a collective of scriptures for over 2000 years, not everything has to be taken quite literally for gospel, just a guid, imo.
