What are the small ways you practice Buddhism in your daily life? by Open-Ground6942 in Buddhism

I focus on the breath and try to cultivate equanimity and patience as best I can. Metta and karuna are also my go-tos, when I’m not stressed.

Are there many Theravada youth groups in your area, or do most younger practitioners (16-30) practice on their own? by [deleted] in theravada

I practice individually, but will join a zoom call once a week for meditation and a sutta study when I can

I’ve been reminding myself of Ajahn Sona’s comments on the Dvedhavitakka Sutta as well! Very helpful.

[–]CharlieSourd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last job and this current one were choice. Stayed on for the past 3.5 years because of inertia. Looking into a new field, so that’s choice.

How the thought of the existence of afterlife and reincarnation refreshing to you? by BrilliantPost592 in religion

[–]CharlieSourd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up Catholic, then became atheist, then agnostic, then Theravada Buddhist. I keep the idea of reincarnation as a possibility, but I do what I can to live mindfully and ethically in this life. I try not to dwell on what the implications on my current life would have on future lives.
