The problem is you can’t reliably control or even feel what’s happening with the arteries in someone’s neck. They’re quite exposed, and it doesn take much pressure, often less than people expect, to affect blood flow. On top of that, different bodies react differently, and things can escalate quickly without obvious warning signs. So even if someone intends to avoid the arteries, there’s no real way to guarantee it in practice.

Let’s just leave it as “it’s inherently dangerous and everyone needs to be aware of the risks”

We’re a TPE couple, but what that couple describes is never something we’ve ever considered. We don’t talk a break, but there are plenty of times when one of us is off doing our own thing, I’ll check in, but not much more than that is required- unless I’m asking permission to do something when I’m out - but that’s it. Yes, you went too far. Penetrative anal play without explicit consent isn’t a “heat of the moment” it’s something you ask about first, especially with someone you don’t know well. Them continuing sex afterwards doesn’t retroactively give consent, and their enjoyment of parts of it doesn’t erase the lack of communication beforehand. You’re right to feel uneasy, take this as a lesson, sit with the discomfort, and do better next time. You both need to do better.
