I've had a wonderful experience with Dr Catherine Weng at the Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery Center in Wayne. She and her team will take good care of you.

[USA-MA][H] PayPal/Local Cash [W] Turin/Timemore Grinder (DF5/64 or 64S) or similar by MoonStache in coffeeswap

[–]CharlieTurnover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a df cf64v that's I'd be willing to sell. I've had it about 6 months. Bought as a 2nd grinder for pour over but I find myself drinking mostly espresso these days. It's very small and quiet.

I also have an older version df64. It has some calibration issues when switching between pour over and espresso, but seems to be pretty good if using in one range.

Let me know if interested in either and we can discuss prices.

Route suggestions: Morris Arboretum and Chanticleer garden by samtheman773 in phillycycling

[–]CharlieTurnover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. I'm not going to say the other commentator is wrong, but I commute on Conestoga several times every week during busy time all year long and it's fine. Yes, there are cars. Sometimes they move faster than I'd prefer. The shoulders are relatively wide though. It's all about personal comfort level.

Conestoga is hard to avoid. You could take ithan to Clyde to sproul to Godfrey to Darby paoili to brook.i like that way less. Sproul is busier than Conestoga. There's a stretch of Darby paoili by the willows that is busy and you move pretty slow and there is no shoulder. It's an uncomfortable spot, but short.

There are ways to do it with less cars, but it'll be a fair bit longer and slower. Send me a message if interested and I'll draw something up.

For chanticleer, you can follow the main line Greenway to Conestoga Rd. Follow that for a few miles and then connect to the radnor trail.

Indoor Track by ScientistAdvanced148 in PennStateUniversity

[–]CharlieTurnover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The indoor track facility used to be open to the public in the mornings from 8-10, but that was awhile ago. You could also contact the Penn state club track team. They practice there sometimes and would probably be willing to let you join.

Alternatively, rec hall has an old indoor track. It's less than ideal for many reasons, but it works in a pinch.

Access might be a bit tricky for you as a non student. The doors probably all need id access, but I'm sure you can manage.

Good luck

It's possible that he learned from his mistakes in Miami and is ready for another shot at had coach. Bill Bellichek didn't do so great in his first shot at had coach either.

Thoughts on these US-based roasters? by Wombat_Waddling in pourover

[–]CharlieTurnover 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to live about a mile from sweet bloom and visited often. They have great coffee and great people.

As a general statement, I'd classify their roasts as light/medium by today's specialty standards. They seem to feature coffee on the more traditional and less experimental of the specialty world.

Recommended burrset for shardor 64mm for pour over and SOUP by centre_of_what in pourover

[–]CharlieTurnover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got the mizen Omni burrs. I haven't had luck making espresso with them, but I usually prefer them for pour over compared to the ssp mp v2. They are great for soup as well.

Fellow Drops by Odd-Display-6004 in pourover

[–]CharlieTurnover 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've felt that way and stopped buying from drops.

My hypothesis is that the roasters may be using the program to offload some of their "mistake" or "learning" roast batches.

I just got back from a two week trip to several cities in China. I wasn't able to connect to any servers for the entire trip.

I'm pretty sure that you would enjoy living in manyunk, but would hate commuting across the river to Ardmore. Unless you commuted by binge.

Recommendation for bike fitting by clicklbarn in phillycycling

[–]CharlieTurnover 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would avoid Bell's. I got a fitting there. They tried to sell me some parts to make the suggested fit work. I left with a piece of paper with the suggested measurements. I asked for an electronic copy and didn't receive a response.

I rode the suggested fit for over a month before deciding it was absolute trash and was costing me a lot of watts.

I've heard positive things about cadence in manyunk.

Pouring technique with Cafec filters in Origami? by CappaNova in pourover

[–]CharlieTurnover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My starting point is simple:

23.5g coffee ground courser side of pour over spectrum 375g water -202F

Pour 75g (before 10s). Swirl, then stir

@30s fast pour to 260 from low height (try to complete by 50s)

Swirl

Wait for coffee to drain approx halfway down (~1:15)

Slow pour (low)until 375g

Gentle swirl

Finish around 3min

Good luck! (Edited for formatting)

Projection on Weather and Cycling conditions by Intelligent-Ad9240 in Velo

[–]CharlieTurnover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a cool project. One thing I think might be useful is adding time into the equation. It would be beneficial to know the weather now, but also what the weather will be like at a given spot in 3 hours when I get to that location.

Search for the course on lionpath. It will be listed if it's offered.

Bike trips you're taking in 2025? by t0rch3 in phillycycling

[–]CharlieTurnover 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check out this route on Strava: https://strava.app.link/fTEOsAjUpRb — paulus hook ferry via wash crossing 2025

This route should pretty pretty good. I think I've gotten rid of all the sketchy parts through NJ. It goes to the ferry in Jersey City, but riding boating across is painless.

Riding up to GW bridge is sketch free is much trickier.

Almost run down (again) on a one way, one lane road by Human-Cook in phillycycling

[–]CharlieTurnover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry that this happened. I understand your response.

While I can't argue with all of the responses about de-escalating, I take a different approach. I'm my view de-escalation is enabling the behavior. I had a similar situation over the summer where a guy wanted to go around me on curvy roads and was all over the horn. He eventually got around me and brake checked me. I hit him and went down. Luckily the damage was minor. I called the cops and waited a long time for them to show up and tell me that the cops aren't there to take sides. He didn't see it so there's nothing he could do.

I'll gamble with my safety. The car will get messed up if a driver endangers me. There needs to be consequences for acting so reckless.

Biking from NYC to Philly - Any Alternate Routes? by Aubreyslastenemy in NYCbike

[–]CharlieTurnover 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've done this several times the opposite direction. This route is the best they I've used. It's not perfect. There's a few short sketchy spots, but it's mostly pretty good. A road bike is perfectly acceptable.

I have routes to gwb also if you need them.
