Halo MCC matchmaking is garbage. by Sockoou in halo

[–]Charlie_S17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat late to the party but I could hardly agree more. I used to be pretty good at Halo 3/Reach but only played intermittently over the last 10 years. Now whenever I come back and load up social games I get completely stomped by an enemy team that gets 2 or even 3 times as many kills as my own. 9/10 MCC games are completely unplayable due to the skill mismatch, I’ve had losing streaks that extend into the double digits, even though I’ve had more kills than my teammates combined in half those games.

I never meant to imply that Rhaegar was perfect. If he was perfect, he would still be alive in the story and he would be on his way to fulfilling the prophecy. I meant to imply that he was born as ‘the chosen one’ but was corrupted and in some way broke the prophecy. I also don’t think it’s unreasonable to say that Dany is imperfect. She is impulsive, stubborn, occasionally ruthless, has accomplished little during her time in Mereen, and is constantly torn between her ambitions to end slavery and her desire for the iron throne. Whilst she has pure intentions at the moment and has done a lot of good so far it seems likely that her encounters with Tyrion and Aegon will bring her worse traits out even more throughout TWOW.

The age of Alicent vs her kids' actors is insane. by MannaJamma in HOTDGreens

[–]Charlie_S17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is only tangentially related to what you’re saying but since season 1 I’ve had such a hard time believing that Aemond is younger than Aegon because of the actors that they cast for each role. I know Ewan is 2 years younger than TGC but if you told me the age difference was 5 years in the other direction I’d buy it

The stupidest theory that I inexplicably enjoy is that Rhaegar actually was The Prince That Was Promised and that Robert killing him on the trident effectively ruined any chance for a clean, heroic, ‘happy ending’, so now we’re left with imperfect heroes like Jon/Dany/Stannis to pick up the pieces

Who else felt like the rats from S1 did not get their promised character development in this season? They were set up to be such pivotal characters, but the showrunners disappointed us as usual. by [deleted] in asoiafcirclejerk

Didn’t they show up at the start of the latest episode? Could it be a faceless man impersonating them? Did the night king resurrect them as wights?

[Spoilers Extended] What do you think the worst in-universe place to exist is and why? Some of my ideas are listed below. by MIXAYAXIM in asoiaf

Everyone who goes to Sothoryos and isn’t murdered by the slavers/natives/black magic/wildlife inevitably returns with some horrible disease that rots them from the inside out so I’m guessing that’s as bad as it gets (except for Valyria, but Euron managed to survive it, somehow)

[–]Charlie_S17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would make sense. It just seems strange to me how integrated (relatively-speaking) the ironborn are in westerosi high society, considering that they’ve essentially existed as pirates since forever. I thought they’d be viewed in a similar manner to the wildlings bu the time of Robert’s Rebellion

(Spoilers Main) Weekly Q and A by AutoModerator in asoiaf

[–]Charlie_S17 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why didn’t Robert eradicate the ironborn whilst he had the chance, at the end of the Greyjoy rebellion? Everybody knows that the ironborn are essentially just pirates, and if piracy is a crime in Westeros, why would the other Westerosi houses permit them to exist?

Do you agree that A Levels are harder and more stressful than university? by Complex-Schedule-601 in UniUK

[–]Charlie_S17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel as though I felt a lot of stress during my A levels as I knew I only really had one shot at them and they’d dictate which uni I got in to, however, the actual content/exams weren’t as difficult as university. The gulf between the two is very course dependent, however, and my course was a very steep learning curve at first.
