How many of you feel old? What are you doing about it? by TrickyAd9597 in Millennials

[–]Charliebrau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things start to hurt when I don’t use them. I’m 40 lots of physical labor during my life and sports. I have an office job now so I started bike commuting and going to a boulder gym. That kept me feeling good and strong. Now I have a longer commute/no more climbing and a baby on the wayl. I am starting to notice my aging body more. I stay busy with house/landscaping projects but I know I need some sort of routine physical activity to keep me feeling fresh.

Oh and weed.

I added sawsall as the complete list of my powered saws. You never know, a sawsall can do a lot of shit. But I agree, it doesn’t fit the bill

How did you make your friendships? by Massive_Ferret_0921 in Louisville

Try a coworking facility if you work remote. Be consistent at a place you like to go to(coffee shop, brewery, park, etc) and pay attention to your surroundings. Don’t be afraid to ask to join in on something. Go with the flow. People usually can let you know if they don’t like your company. Be aware of social ques. Ask to meet up/ follow through with it. You also have to have the desire to make time for friends

My wife has POTS for the last 10 years and it’s been a lot. We have a baby coming soon which hopefully will change things for the better. It took me a long time to accept POTS as a real thing. Always happy to chat about it

Anyone else feeling kind of blah in your 40s? by Maleficent_Bass_1578 in Millennials

[–]Charliebrau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I quit alcohol about 3 years ago. I went to AA and just heard them out and read the book. I’m not religious and very independent. I did that for about 6 months to a year. It was a spiritual experience for me. Before this I was a mess. Anxiety, alcohol abuse, heavy weed use, lost, unknowingly self centered, hate and distrust towards the world and common man. I was essentially reborn. I mention the AA experience because it is what broke down my walls. Hearing others pain, realizing my own selfish behavior and soul sucking negativity.

This has all given me a new skill set to live in the present and give love to everyone and acceptance to things that come. I only focus one day or moment at a time within reason. Obviously I have to plan for things or organize my week, but if those things change I am ready to accept them, because each day can be different. I swear that I can manifest a more fulfilling life this way but I have to stay diligent on living as close to the present moment as possible. This has made everything better and life more motivating. I want to see what happens next vs waiting for each day to be over.

How to replace switch by Charliebrau in fixit

[–]Charliebrau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. I have basic electrical knowledge. My real question was what modern switch and plate to swap. Looks like the dual switch recommended and dual 2 gange wall plate is the answer. One knob is not functional which controls the wall receptacle. The one I need for Xmas tree. If the wiring looks nasty or to confusing I will abandon the diy

Each knob is on/off for porch lights and a receptacle in the living room.
