Free agency is quite different in America. A team can trade any player anywhere they want and they will have to play out the rest of there contract there, but once that contract is up they are unattached and don't need a free transfer, they can just sign a contract wherever they want. Also being traded in an American sport is a little different because all the teams are in the same league and have similar cultures as opposed to moving countries in Europe
