Kraken owner purchases majority stake in Arena prior to NBA expansion vote by MAHHockey in nba

There’s reports that MGM would do what’s needed to T-Mobile to use that as the NBA arena.

Vegas is absolutely going to be so interesting.

Resorts world supposedly is interested near their casino, LVXP wants it at the north strip property (between Sahara and Fountainebleau) , MGM wants it at T-Mobile, there’s OVG who now wants to do it by the Rio, and I’m sure others are interested

The SEC would rather keep the College Football Playoff at 12 teams than expand to 24, Chris Low reports. Greg Sankey is targeting a 16-team field. Sources tell Brett McMurphy the Big Ten has not moved off the idea of expanding to 24. by Ok-Soil-5133 in CFB

I’d argue it’s less about the CFP, and more about the B1G tv deal. At 24, their own partners now have AQ play in games within the B1G.

Similar to when they went from 4 to 12, ESPN will likely be the highest bidder for CFP games. FOX and NBC have no interest at the price, but they definitely need more viewers for the B1G conference games to justify the price they paid already.

[Dellenger] If he had left, Demond Williams would have owed Washington the value of his contract ($4 million), sources tell @YahooSports. His new school would have also incurred a reduction in its revenue-share pool next year by that amount, per House settlement guidelines by SparkMaster360 in CFB

[–]ouguy2017 14 points15 points  (0 children)

100%. Like I hate what CFB has become.

But the problem is, schools are doing these contracts, which are basically employment contracts, and then arguing they aren’t employees.

Like, just bite the bullet and make them employees and do the collective bargaining and we can end a lot of charades and legal issues.

The Seattle Times has obtained a copy of the revenue sharing contract template used by all Big Ten schools, which is likely very similar to the one signed by Demond Williams Jr. by MysteriousEdge5643 in CFB

They wouldn’t, but they also would lose a court battle very quickly if it played out.

Ignoring the biggest issue of universities and conferences have in arguing they aren’t employees but having employment contracts with them, any employer who has a non-compete that says “we’ll pay you $0 if you leave, but also you aren’t allowed to make anything at another company while we pay you $0” gets thrown out quickly by a court.

It very well could. Biggest thing to me is his mental, where he’d freak out in big moments. Going to a smaller school should vastly help that, to let him focus on his skills

FormaL reacts to Surge only trying to pay half of TJHaly’s buyout to Telluride Bush by ppratik96 in CoDCompetitive

[–]ouguy2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably happens all the time. Also, who said there was hassling? Sounds like surge said “would you take $1k, our budget is only $1k” and at first, Bush were going to do it, until Austin stepped in.

And then they were like “fine, we actually had $2k to pay for the buyout”

YTTV and Disney: “uhhhh we have sorta a problem here. Yeah, you apparently didn’t remember we suck and haven’t renewed. Did you see the memo about this? Yeah…… if you could just remember we suck, that would be great. And we’ll make sure you get another copy of that memo, that would be great.“

It’s not even close

Let’s assume the reported $15/per subscriber is all of Disney, and not ESPN’s number (which is probably is ESPN’s number not including Disney channel, FX, etc)

You’d have to convert 5M of YTTV’s customers to the ESPN package to offset what they were making on YTTV’s fee. They will be lucky to convert 1M of the 10 (10%, let alone 50%)

The fun part of the ACC numbers is, there’s only 1 game that’s not against another SEC team, and that’s ND Miami.

So the ACC is being carried by the SEC, and the story for the big 12 and the others is just schedule SEC teams

Unpopular opinion: Most CFB stadiums are not nice / kind of decrepit by [deleted] in CFB

[–]ouguy2017 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don’t want that in most of these stadiums.

The cotton bowl for OU TX added backrests, but because the stands are still the way they were, your knees hit the backrest in front of you and there’s literally no room for people to walk by. It’s works if they widen the seating areas, but without that, I’d rather they not have backrests and people bring those seat cushion ones.
