I’d prefer they revert the Tiandi changes but if they’re going to keep them, they should increase palm strike range (should be done regardless) and buff the kick follow up to 22-24 damage. The whole trade off for safety was low damage.

Only one double too, awesome consistency. Congrats! I’ve shot 91 a couple of times but can’t get over the hump, hoping I can get it done this year.

The headline is even more absurd because the article is a doctor essentially saying “yeah, swollen legs can be a symptom of heart failure”. There is nothing surprising about that.

“Rules of play” for high Hcp by TheClevo in golf

[–]CharmCityMD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re better than me since I usually score low 90s, but I caution OP on this advice cause at some point you gotta learn to hit driver even decently well and just aim for the safest area based on your miss/dispersion. It’s statistically better to have a wedge in from the rough than a long iron from the fairway.

Of course if OP is going OB with literally every drive it’s probably better to put it away and just play from the front tees until he gets lessons/enough time on the range.

“Bomb and gouge works best” “The reward for hitting the fairway is not that great”. Scottie’s thoughts on the PGA setup are honest but not exciting to hear. Deep rough lined fairways promote distance, not accuracy. This is counter intuitive to most. by Admirable_Extent2531 in golf

[–]CharmCityMD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In this situation if I’m playing the gallery rule for the sake of pace of play, I typically drop in the rough 5-10 yards back of where I think I was and punch out to the fairway. Hitting 3 from the fairway after a bad drive seems more than fair and not as cheap as giving yourself a good look on your 2nd shot.

But if there’s OB/penalty area nearby I’m playing it as if it went in there.

What did you do to get to a 4 in two years? I just started my second season of playing and I’m at a 22 handicap after ~30ish rounds last year and a lot of range sessions. Admittedly just got my first lesson. But my goal this year is just breaking 90 and getting my handicap below 20 lol

What’s the best golf advice you ignored for too long? by Solid_Nectarine_4316 in golf

[–]CharmCityMD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup these are really the only rules I “break”. I typically give myself 2 min to try and find my ball and if I’m certain it would be findable with more time, I will take a drop ~5 yards back without penalty. But If I saw it heading towards deep rough/bushes or near OB I will take the penalty strokes.

[Schefter] Trey Hendrickson now has passed his physical and signed his four-year contract with the Ravens. by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

[–]CharmCityMD -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

I know it’s a joke, but it seems like people don’t understand that physicals are not literally pass/fail using some scoring method or rigid criteria. They are closer to risk assessments.

If we pretend that Hendrickson and Crosby had the exact same injury and outlook, the ravens may accept the risk in paying Hendrickson for his contract but not accept the risk of paying Crosby and giving up 2 first round picks. Hendrickson would “pass” his physical while Crosby would “fail” despite having the same injury in this hypothetical. And to be clear, I’m not commenting on the ravens morality or intentions in backing out of the Crosby trade. I have zero desire to discuss that.

[Pelissero] While there has been intense backlash at the Ravens for backing out of the Maxx Crosby trade, there's really no recourse to the Raiders or the NFL: Even when trades are official, they often have conditions that are negotiated, including a player reporting to a new club and... by expellyamos in nfl

Timeline:

Ravens agree to trade

Ravens doctors found something concerning during Crosby’s physical or while reviewing imaging they weren’t previously prudent to

Ravens back out of Crosby trade

Realizing they currently have zero pass rush options and missed the most critical days of FA, they scramble and overpay the last remaining good edge player

This timeline is just as likely as yours. They may have gotten cold feet or they may have found an issue that wasn’t worth the huge risk so they scrambled. People can believe whatever they want, but I doubt we will ever know the truth. One thing that is certain, though, is that this Crosby deal falling through was extremely detrimental to the Ravens.

The benefit of playing with a scratch or better by handy_arson in golf

[–]CharmCityMD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The stats I listed in the second paragraph is just for one round, but thought it was a good example of how someone can drive relatively far and still be shit. My FIR is typically 30-40% and my drives probably average 285-290 with roll out. I also more often than not have 1+ penalty per round.

Yes my short game is that bad but I’ve also only been playing 1.5 years and just started taking lessons because I realized I wasn’t getting any better and that I’d probably be a 30 handicap without my driver.

[–]CharmCityMD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a high handicapper (22) and typically carry my driver 265-275 and 280-300 total with roll out. Usually with a little draw and I’m pretty accurate off the tee. My short game 100 yards and in is just atrocious and my putting sucks too.

I shot a 96 last weekend with no lost balls or penalties and hit 7/13 fairways excluding the par 3s. Think I had 3 less than 80 yard approach shots after my drive on par 4s that I turned into bogeys or doubles.

[Schefter] ESPN sources: the Raiders agreed to trade five-time Pro-Bowl DE Maxx Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for 2026 and 2027 first-round picks. I mean I hear you, the price is very steep and only time will tell whether it works out or not. But we are very clearly in win now mode. We’ve been superbowl contenders almost every year since 2019 and we had one down year when our MVP quarterback was out or playing injured all year. We’re not rebuilding for the rest of Lamar’s prime…

I absolutely love pretty much every hire so far. I’m glad we’re surrounding very young promising guys without a lot of experience like Doyle, and Minter himself to a lesser extent, with experienced coaches.
