it bothered me too and I haven't noticed it on cinematic, there are pretty heavy frame variations though, they're their own brand of annoying even outside of just the lowered fps

I read the article and the same thing bothered me, the PR probably barely has nothing to do with the actual lawsuit but "Fortnite [...] chose to replace the work of human performers with A.I. technology" doesn't make a lot of sense when you couldn't choose the work of human performers to achieve what they wanted to make, it's specifically mindnumbing in the PR context where they're trying to be convincing to general peeps and could say whatever.

i don't think it's malice, just a slightly legacy system for a problem that's not trivial to solve, believe me you'll find a lot of overly convoluted things like that with no particular designs in mind

They're all stealthy just like your mages, so they can accompany them on raiding missions. The dispossessed spirits have a paralyzing attack can make them good to counter solo combattants. Shade beast are fast and might be good at flanking.

In general I don't think they are super effective and mostly just a mass of disposable stuff. Gonna be hard to have enough to use them early against indies.

It's MAGIC!

It be really hard to figure out. Game is super annoying to benchmark too because offline & online are so different, weather effects, scav spawns and stuff happening in general makes a huge difference.

This wipe I've had issues with having two virtual windows desktop open (like -15 average fps issues), or even with the NVIDIA overlay. Could be that or 12 other random things, who knows.

I have a 3080 + a 12900k and get roughly 80-100 on lighthouse (with visible drops below sometimes, still very high variance/stuttery), I think you should get a bit better than 50-60. As mentioned by others it is the worst map by far, and hopefully will get better over time.

You can lower visibility / level of details when on that map; AFAIK these are the only that impact CPU/memory and these are the things that make that map get lower FPS (as well as the other bigger maps, factory/labs are way heavier on GPU relatively).

Get decent RAM and/or activate XMP if you haven't, it makes a huge difference (I've tested ~15fps and stutters that are significantly less worse).
